It’s a known fact that Today, the luxury market in India garners huge attention as most of the global luxury brands have already arrived or are expected to enter. Luxury retailers have realized that India is one of the world's most vibrant, diverse and challenging markets for brands that want to capture this market.
Hence, to cap the opportunity and to pursue my interest towards the domain, I started to look out at education options within the country. However, I was in doubt regarding its scope in India. After having explored several options, I feel lucky to have secured admission in the Asia counterpart of the SDA Bocconi School of management. SDA Bocconi Asia Center is the only MBA school that focuses on the industry and supports its students run a luxury club.
The Luxury Club, SDA Bocconi Asia Center, is an autonomous student-run club aimed at producing the next generation of luxury leaders in India, and Asia at large. Its goal is to educate its members about the luxury goods and services industry, as well as provide them with career planning and networking opportunities. Activities of the Club range from weekly learning & development sessions and case studies, to guest speakers, company presentations, and live project/internship opportunities.
As the Head of corporate relations of the club, I’ve had several opportunities to interact and engage with various industry experts and learn more about the industry through panel discussions, roundtables or guest lectures. My stint with the luxury club proved useful since I could apply all the concepts learned during the L&D sessions during my internship with The Estee Lauder Companies. I’ve managed to complete a live project with The Sanda&Co- A luxury consulting company
Which ABGP company will you like to work with and why?
There are few large conglomerates that dominate the luxury market in India and one such company is the Aditya Birla Fashion Retail that manages the operations of the brands like Hackett London, The collective, Ted Baker etc. The group operates in over 35 countries and is one of the successful ones in the country. With my expertise knowledge and it's culmination, I will like to work for a conglomerate to start my career in Luxury. Working for ABFRL, would help me understand the broader perspective which would indeed enhance my skills. Hence, As a student of fashion & Luxury, It’d be a dream to work with the fashion house.
