“I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They’re really saying I love you I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world” -Louis Armstrong

Getting off the metro, taking a rickshaw to Faculty of Management Studies, you can see lush green, tall trees along the road side with the deep blue sky over your head. You take a final left turn and reach your destination, a building made of red bricks, a building that has seen dreams being achieved and histories being written, a building that has seen cultures grow and evolve, a building famously known as the Red Building of Dreams.

A small campus with a heart-warming atmosphere, filled with energetic students and passionate teachers who come together to add a star to the institute’s name every day. Nowhere else does a student get the chance to have hands on experience of what life is after graduating as an MBA. FMS teaches you exactly that. In life, no matter how high you grow, you face multiple situations where as a leader or team member you have to deal with a limited amount of resources and deliver the best results using those resources at your disposal. The institute has been polishing leaders in every field and the fact that everyone knows everyone in the college, sooner or later, is one of the most helpful factors in determining the learning being instilled in prospective MBA students.

When students graduate, they take with them, the legacy of this big respectful name, FMS. And while stepping outside the college gate, even though a student is leaving for a new place, new work and new people set up, he/she carries a big chunk of this institute in their hearts, forever!

That is the magic of FMS. You come, you laugh, you cherish, you make memories, you sleep on the stairs, you weep in the ground, you rush for classes, you crib for deadlines, you just don’t exist at FMS, you LIVE AT FMS!

A memorable classroom experience in my B-school

B-Schools, as they are, are famous for putting students through rigorous schedules and sleepless nights. The famous ‘Initial 15 days’ and the aftermaths are hard to take in when one is already accustomed to sleeping for more than 12 hours a day. As it came, it was tough for us as well. But we cried, laughed and played along and we came out stronger than we were. To put it through using a jingle:

The seniors were indifferent and sometimes ruthless,
we were distressed and oh so suppressed!
Every night, it was a new kind of fight,
With coffee and chocolates to help me sit tight

Then one day, they played a prank
Yelled at us so bad, we almost wet our pants
We got to know that sessions were finally over
We all headed to the venue, to party with fervour!

The most memorable memory so far?
Picking up friends and help them reach the car.

Not that it was an easy task, but the hard work payed off and we kept our arts
It has to be the most amazing memory so far,
If only I could write it down and lock it in a jar.

The journey that started on June 11, 2018 and is still going on has been helping us groom ourselves. It took various paths, all of us fumbled, lost and stepped back at least once but I am still grateful because at the end of the day, the Batch of 2020 comes out a little stronger than it was the previous day.

My Crazy Classmates

Anubhav Kataria

Have you ever slept under the sky, with no roof above your head? Maybe yes, but have you ever slept under the Eiffel Tower because you ran out of money in a foreign land and could not connect with your friends for almost 30 hours?  (Conditions applied: You cannot contact your parents because they have no idea you are in a different country)
I don’t think so.
Guess who has done this? That is right, the football freak, trekker from Haryana, street play and stage actor by heart and a guitarist by soul, one and only, Anubhav Kataria.

Pooja Parwani

You look at her and see a nerdy girl with big frames sitting in a corner. But that is the opposite of who she is. She is an opinionated, loud-mouthed person with lots of crazy stories to tell. One of which happened when she, along with her friends drove all the way from Chennai to Pondicherry on a scooty in the middle of the night. The distance was 150 km and the rush was just to have breakfast at a famous French café.

If that is not crazy I don’t know what is.

Prateek Raina

A superhero without a cape.

Without thinking twice, he tried to save two girls being eve teased. The outcome was a little unexpected as they got bashed up for doing it. But never the less, it is the efforts that count, right?

A foodie by heart, Prateek can name all the pulses by just touching them and can legit sing a song for every situation.

Shristi

Have you explored places that are forbidden?  But you do remember all of them, right?
Meet my flatmate,  the one with the sharpest brain but a very bad memory. She is moody, has a curious kid like brain. She loves to make impromptu plans like going on long cycling rides (20-30 km) and treks. A personality so strong that even though, she might forget your name, you won’t forget hers. Breaking stereotypes and working relentlessly to achieve her goals, is what Srishti stands up for.

This document will be incomplete without my crazy story because it is because of this craziness that we all mingle along so well.

Vrinda Bhatnagar

Ever seen a person getting a sugar rush?

Well, that is Vrinda Bhatnagar for you. A brownie loaded with ice cream and chocolate syrup gets me started. You can see the hidden traits unfold as the sugar starts hitting. I would laugh uncontrollably, TALK-A-LOT, smile at stupid things and crack the lamest jokes.

One of the incidents as I remember was when I, along with my group of friends, walked down the entire market lane distributing free hugs to strangers (girls only), talking about random stuff, being who we are without any filters and making the most out of the one free hour they stole from the busy schedule by bunking the last lecture at school.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

I want to work in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.

Reason: In my opinion, fashion is an expression of freedom and opinion. It is instrumental in portraying one’s true self and is a thread that sews the different sections of society together and to be able to work in a company whose aim is to provide infrastructure through which fashion reaches every strata of the society would be like working where my heart belongs. Apart from this, due to prior experience in retail, I believe if I work in the right direction I will be able to contribute positively to ABFRL and my identity.
