What Makes My Campus Unique? - Udatta Ganguly, XIMB

To go or not to go was the first question that ran through my mind when the converted letter from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar arrived in my mailbox. This is when I sat down with a pen and paper to do a pros and cons analysis to re-affirm my decision to pursue my Masters of Business Administration from this esteemed and venerable institute but deep down in my heart of hearts I knew that this is the place that would harbinger my evolution into the professional that I aspire to be. And on my arrival into these hallowed halls, I realised that I was right.

The uniqueness of XIMB was evident from the moment I arrived at the gates of the campus, situated in the heart of the city near Xavier Square with its unassuming presence as one of the best business schools in the country. That was affirmed as soon as we began our orientation. From having sessions from 9 am to 6 pm along with completing over three assignments, 2 case studies in just the first 72 hours I realised that sleep at XIMB is a luxury and time the most precious commodity. Yet to my utter surprise I did not feel an ounce of fatigue or boredom. Every one of the activities seems to make me want to do more and probably for the first-time work made me feel like wanting to stay awake and keep going.

My alma-mater brings together people from all across the nation, from various diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, cuisines, mindsets and unifies them under one banner of being a Xaverian. And this is what makes XIMB the most unique, the ability to inject the zeal into every Xaverian to spent every waking hour in pursuit of excellence and function with the ‘spirit of Magis’. Which ABG Company would I like to work for? The ABG company that I would want to work for is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. I would like to learn marketing, strategy and the holistic way the business works to make itself one of the largest retail brands of the nation of whom I’m myself a content customer & consumer.   - Udatta Ganguly BM, 1st year, XIMB
