-By Ashwin S, A fun loving, kind and smart mechanical engineer with 30 months of work experience who always gives his best at all tasks thrown to him.   Psst... We have a huge crane in the midst of our campus. Who else can boast of that huh? IIM. There’s something about this three letters being arranged in this particular order that once people come to know you’re from an IIM, their eyes widen in admiration. There are many IIMs, with the roost being led by the old IIMs. But even in their midst, there is this new guy, IIM Udaipur, which stands out. IIM Udaipur is a relatively new institute. It just moved to its own campus in October 2016 and the works are still ongoing. But it’s a beauty. The moment you cross the main gate of the college you see buildings under construction at a distance and think that the construction works have no end in sight. But then you take a sharp right turn and through the meandering roads you approach the few buildings designed in Laurie Baker style- unpainted, with bricks showing. You suddenly feel this is something special. You step through the gate there in front and walk into an open space. And to the left, there are some of the Laurie Baker style buildings, and towards your right, is the mess and beyond that more buildings as you saw to your left. The mess’s entrance is flanked on both sides by huge stairs leading up. Even though there are many things so special about the IIMU, this space is one of the biggest. This space is a living breathing entity on its own. There is not a moment when there is no one here. This place is alive. Thriving. This is the heartbeat of IIMU. From night outs to parties to gossips to exam preparations and even for no reason at all, the students gather here. Just being in this space would make one feel alive. One could just sit there and do nothing, or just hang out with anyone, and feel like you could spend an eternity here and still long for more, especially for the nights. There is just something about this place which makes it special, which makes it feel like home. There is something magical here, something ineffable, but it’s there, and standing there in that space, the energy, the soul of this place, it’s palpable and you’d say to yourself, ‘there’s nowhere else that I’d rather be’.   Which Aditya Birla Group company I would like to work for? To being with, it would be an honour to work for any company under the Aditya Birla Group. But if I was given an option to pick one, I would like to go with ‘Essel Mining & Industries Limited’. Being a mechanical engineering graduate with almost three years of work experience in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, I believe this is the field where I can use the knowledge I gained from engineering, my work experience and MBA in such a way that each complements the other and helps me get the best out of myself and serve the company better.
