So basically before joining IIM Udaipur like many of us, I was in a great dilemma. I come from an engineering background with B.Tech from NIT Jaipur and work experience of 22 months in TATA MOTORS. First of all, leaving such a lucrative job and going for MBA that too from India was itself a tough decision to make but I always had a desire to skill my management skills and the desire strengthened after working with TATA MOTORS, hence I decided to give CAT and join a B school which will sharpen my management skills.
I was known as an astute student in my circle when it comes to the choice of colleges, before joining any institute I will do extensive research and will choose the best suitable option for me that’s how I chose my undergraduate college keeping in mind JEE and AIEEE rank and selected the best suitable option. So with a 98 percentile in CAT 2018, I started shortlisting colleges which will best suit me, keeping in my profile and areas of interests. IIMs were my choice, I never thought of joining any private institution as IIMs were the epitome of management education and are highly academic focus, unlike other leading private institutions which mainly focus on placements and corporate competitions.
According to the choices, I filled and calls I received I shortlisted 5 IIMs, IIM Kozhikode, Udaipur, Ranchi, Raipur, and Rohtak. I was not able to convert Kozhikode but converted the rest. Now started the great confusion and journey of choosing the best option available. I researched, spoke to my friends studying in respective colleges and try and understand the mission and vision of all these colleges.
After all this homework, I finally decided to land in IIM Udaipur. What were the plus points which made me land again in Rajasthan? Well, the curriculum and the environment of this institute resonate with the vision this institute perceives. The academic rigor is high at par, in fact, more than the old established IIMs. The campus is entirely student-driven hence gives you ample of opportunities to apply what you are learning here itself, it’s kind of a live project where you are contributing with your actions to build the brand, to build U together. The beautiful and large campus with all the modern facilities gives IIM U an edge over others. The various exchange programmes and competitions attract the best minds in the country and give you an opportunity to capture the industry insights from them. Faculties are an edge over here and best in class. I don’t think so I have ever enjoyed classes and studies this much as much I am doing here.
Which ABG Company do you want to work with and why?
I will love to work in the retail division of Aditya Birla Group. With e-commerce giants booming the market and with technology driving the whole retail experience it’s fun to be a part of such fun and vibrant domain and when it’s the retail function of ABG the experience you can expect will be sumptuous.
