Manish has been chosen as one of the top 30 most employable candidates across schools and programmes in India for the Class of 2015. He has one of the best 30 profiles among the 66 final round candidates who participated in the Best50 competition. The final 30 were chosen based on a combination of scores for the write-up below and the candidate’s resume. What have you done at your business school which makes you stand out from the crowd? One thing that makes me stand out from the crowd is that I share a great bond with a lot of people and have good relations with almost the entire batch, which I am sure no one else has. In my 2 years, I have worked with a lot of different people in various competitions. It has helped me a great deal as I try to learn from each one of them and pick up their good qualities. I believe this will be of big help in the future because I can always call these people whenever I face any problem in life, be it job related or personal.   What have you done in your life that you are the most proud of? I am proud of one thing that I have not done in my entire life and that is that I have never been unfair to anyone. I feel extremely proud when I think about it and that feeling instils in me, a sense of confidence and joy. That is one thing about me that even my parents and friends can vouch for and they trust me a lot because of this quality of mine. It’s always easy for me to take decisions in life because I know that whatever decision I am going to make, it should not be unfair to anyone.Simply put, I am proud of the fact that I am a good human being.   If there was one good aspect about your school that you could take back after you graduate -  ‘Never give up’ attitude. This is one aspect that is now common to each and every student of FMS and I just feel so good about it. No matter what the situation is, do not panic and try to give your best. That is what I have learnt here with all others. You can see this feeling in the eyes of each FMS student and I believe that this attitude is what gives me confidence to do good in the future as well. Before coming to FMS, I had just heard about the ‘never give up’ attitude, but I am a firm believer and practitioner of it.   If there was one thing that you could change about your business school, it would be - Currently there is very less interaction between the first years students and the second year students and that too when there are only around 200 students per batch. I have seen this with the previous batch as well as current batch. I believe that inter-batch communication is very important to carry forward college’s culture and it’s values. The less you interact, the lesser that culture is carried forward. I really want to change that because that change is necessary to maintain the legacy of a college which is 60 years old.   If you had to open a rival social network to Facebook, what would it be like? Firstly, I will get rid of the ads and let users be on the platform for why they really are, for talking to their friends and connecting with them. A website called ‘Ello’ is doing a similar stuff. I will create a website where rather than people connecting to their friends, are connected to people who share similar interests. For example, there would be a group called Music lovers in Delhi or Foodies of NCR. Whenever someone will post something on the platform, an algorithm would run which would decide the best group to put that post into. Based on that, only people in that group could see that. The insight is that people like to make new friends and this would give them an opportunity to meet like-minded people and share their interests. I think this is the need of the hour and would definitely challenge Facebook, if executed properly.   Who are you - Express yourself ‘The only person one should try to be better than, is the person you were the day before’. This is the basic philosophy of my life. I compete with myself each passing day and try and come out a better person than I was, the previous day. I like to do things which people say to me that I cannot. Being a practical person, I have always believed in the power of actions, rather than just words. I’m not perfect, neither do I intend to be. I like the fact that there is still a lot to learn, however much you have learnt. Intuition is one of my key strengths. I do not like to keep regrets rather label them as important decisions of my life because they taught me what not to do in the future. I am a free soul and like to think openly. A string believer of out of the box thinking, I think too much over too little. Routine of any kind scares me and I deliberately change things if I think they are getting routinized. All in all, I am a person with strong beliefs but always ready for something new and disruptive. Meet the rest of India’s 30 Most Employable Management Graduates from the Class of 2015 here
