Gunajit Brahma, a recent pass-out from IIM –Indore hails from the north-eastern part of the country. He explored the entrepreneurial streak in him and set out to find his own venture: Jeevanksh.com , initially an organic produce marketing site. It has now expanded its ambit for procuring high-quality organic dailies like grains, vegetables and fruits from farmers guaranteeing them more than MSP. This brings into perspective social entrepreneurship in a profitable way.
Jeevanksh was started as a B2C platform but market constraints transformed it into a B2B concept. Under the B2C model, it was an E-commerce portal which sold everything organic from cosmetics to veggies to fruits, teas to milk to pulses etc. However, the local demand could not pick up adequately and so the model had to undergo a change. Presently, it involves procurement from north-eastern farmers because of the regional belonging and the abundance of natural resources in the region which has been further strengthened as a result of government initiatives like making Sikkim the cleanest state, etc. The produce is then sold to big retail stores in urban areas. The success of this model has got them a round of investment as incubation from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (better known as Pusa Institute, Delhi).
Planet-I community is proud of its alums and seeks assistance and guidance from them to further foster entrepreneurship.
