After the very first lockdown, the entire MBA student fraternity was skeptical about their internships, and nothing was different for me except the fact that I was in a much more comfortable place than many of my peers because I was placed in a company I could trust and believe in – RB.
The compass of RB says, "Do the right thing. Always." It was like an assurance from RB to all of us interns. After the initial hick-ups, where we all were in the wait-and-watch mode, RB decided to transition the entire internship online. Did this prompt RB to tone their projects down? No! RB went ahead with all the projects they had initially though off and assigned to interns – this to me still is an example of how confident RB was in its capability to deliver a project in such a situation and a testament to the belief they put in all their interns.
The first video call we had was such a great relief; I still say it was one of the most remarkable parts of my internship experience. In that video call, we all embarked on a journey as the first-ever fully remote set of interns, and that makes my batch very special! The excitement was soaring that we were still trying to get to know each other, but we all knew that we were going to make it happen. We were going to deliver our projects.
The greatest thing about RB is its people – people who are used to excellence, people who are putting in everything they have into their jobs, people who are welcoming, people who believe in outcomes, people who feel and breathe the compass of RB. In my short career thus far, never had I ever witnessed such cohesion between employees and the employer. To say the least, this makes me want to be a part of RB all the more someday; this makes RB all the more aspirational to me than it already was.
Delivering projects wasn't easy, but having been with RB for the past two months, I've realized how I have developed my own capabilities into managing a project and delivering it working from home – an experience I've never had before. There was always help and guidance available, and I am very confident in the knowledge I have gained at RB and how it will help me become a successful supply chain professional in the future.
RB – more than a brand, more than a company, it was an experience. I would have loved to visit all the offices, all the plants, but I think given the situation the world is right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, we did our best and left no stone unturned.
I thank everyone at RB for the fantastic experience and journey!
