There are various aspects that make MDI, a campus brimming with energy in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Gurgaon special. One of the things which I particularly like since I joined is the corporate connect on the campus. Gurgaon is one of the major corporate hubs of India and that gives MDI a comparative advantage over several other B Schools. Ever since the very first week, you get a flavor of what life would be post MBA. There are a number of executives as well as entrepreneurs who come to the campus to share their life stories, what they have gained through years of experience and how that has helped them grow. These talks provide an insight into the corporate world, how different companies think and work.
One of the most important take-away is that you can see how your theoretical knowledge gained is molded into real world applications. These provide a background to what we learn in our classrooms and enable us to link the same to the real world. Each talk provides a different perspective and helps you broaden your horizon. Each speaker brings with himself a new viewpoint and he makes you look at things differently. You get to learn from industry leaders, professionals who through their hard work and experience have excelled in their fields. Seeing people, who were once in your seats, as you listen to their stories, motivates and inspires you to excel, to work hard to achieve your goals.
These connects encourage dialogue, as you get the opportunity to obtain a season viewpoint on any doubts an individual might have at the back of his mind. The topics discussed help provide a fresh perspective on various issues. You get to learn about the various ways in which an individual can shape his or her career. As different speakers share their life stories, you become aware of the plethora of opportunities that await once you graduate from B School. Another major advantage it provides is that you get to grow your network. These talks are an amazing opportunity to connect with the speakers.
A feature which stands apart from most B Schools is the formal attire students maintain while attending such talks. As it said, you dress for the job you want, this culture demonstrates the seriousness with which Mandevians approach these talks.
I am looking forward to the coming two years as this institute helps me become the person I aspire to be.
Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?
The Aditya Birla Group company I would want to work for is Aditya Birla Capital. I am interested in pursuing a specialization in finance and this division has presence across multiple verticals through its various subsidiaries. Working with such an organization would provide my plenty of opportunities to grow and learn in this field.
