“You cannot create experience. You must undergo it.” Said  Albert Camnus. Future managers at MDI-Gurgaon are following it in letter and spirit. They leave no stone unturned when it comes to capturing some real world experience to augment class room learning. Apart from the usual placements and guest lectures, students are doing live projects and case studies to connect to the industry. They help corporate solve real issues through live projects, perform market research on their behalf and also conduct high quality research on emerging areas. Consequently, students gain rich managerial insights on companies ranging from some start ups to global leaders in various domains. This becomes all the more important in the background of recovering world economy, the companies round the globe are re-aligning themselves to the changing dynamics. Through an event called Delphique that is (derived from the famous ‘Delphi’ method of research) students at MDI focus on conducting research in collaboration with industry. At the core of this convention, students of MDI work on research projects offered by various corporates, jointly mentored by professors and industry stalwarts. The work culminates into a three day event where experts of respective domains participate in panel discussions and offer some stimulating thoughts stemming from findings of the research. The theme of this year’s event is “Rediscover Management” with an aim to provide a blueprint for the corporate on how to tackle the issues. MDI has been able to associate with big corporate names for the past few years through Delphique. Mr. Manoj Kohli, MD, Bharti Enterprises and Mr. R. S. Sharma, MD & CEO, Jindal Power are gracing us with their esteemed presence as Chief Guests this year. For this edition, students are going to work with the leaders of the industry. With Western Union, students are going to focus on Building a Business Case in the area of Online Payment Gateway Service for Cross-Border Transactions. In the fast growing infrastructure domain, Lafarge is partnering with the research topic Growing infrastructure market in India and how to target those opportunities. For Britannica Encyclopaedia, the students are doing an extensive market study on Internet usage in Schools.  In the IT domain, students would work on How safe is data on cloud for Aricent.  Some of the other research partners are Ernst & Young, Coca-Cola, Hero Future Energies and dutch based Royal DSM. Cognizant is parterning with the convention for the 4th consecutive year with a case study challenge. Not to forget the entrepreneurship spirit that this b-school keeps promoting, they have a B-Plan competition as well supported by the Indian Angel Network. Research, Review and Resolve has been the core idea behind such live projects. The 18th edition of this management convention is going to be held from 21st-23rd November 2014. The convention has been graced with the presence of notable leaders such as Dr. R.K. Pachauri - Noble Laureate, Dr. Ravi Ajmera - CAO, Deutsche Bank, Mr. Manoj Piplani - MD and Site President, Citigroup, Mr. Oscar DeMello - Country Head, Hay Group, Ms. Renana Jhabvala - Padma Shree in the past.
