Role of Aditya Birla Group in my Life Aditya Birla Group, one of the largest Indian Multinational Conglomerate, through its operations and initiatives spanning across the five continents, has not only impacted the lives of its 1,20,000 employees, but it has touched the lives of billions of people like me all around the globe. From Freshwrapp in the kitchen, to Vodafone-Idea in our Mobile phones to the cement used to construct buildings & houses, to the most famous fashion brands lining up the closet, Aditya Birla Group is present in all the spheres of our lives. Aditya Birla has been growing from strength to strength since its inception in 1930s and has been become a huge Brand in itself. Some of the largest & the most trusted brands like Ultratech, Vodafone Idea, Grasim Industries, Aditya Birla Capital have been directly or indirectly positively impacting our lives in a huge way for many years. In the Fashion Industry, no brand comes even close to Aditya Birla Group and its vast array of brands. The brands are positioned in such a way that it caters to people in almost all the demographics. From its ultra-premium Brands like The Collective, Hackett London, Ted Bakers, Ralph Lauren to Premium Brands like Van Heusen, Louis Phillipe to brands for Gen-X & Y like Forever 21 to brands for middle class like Pantaloons & Peter England, the Group has made sure that Brands have depth as well as the width so as to cater to the needs of all those who aspire to be connected to such a huge name in the industry. Apart from these known brands, the Group has been working very efficiently in the background with its products like Copper, being one of the biggest suppliers of Copper to the Indian Railways and Carbon Nanoparticles for the Tyre industry making it safer and more robust and in turn creating an impact. Apart from taking care of its direct stakeholders, the Group has been focusing on improving and touching the lives of many more through its various Sustainability and Social responsibility initiatives. Being the worlds largest recycler of used beverage cans and focusing on recycling, reusing and conserving water through Water Harvesting for its daily requirements, the Group has been playing its part in Sustainable development of its surroundings. As a Socially responsible and a caring corporate citizen, the Group has been reaching and helping more than 7.5 million underprivileged people across the globe through Schools, Hospitals, livelihood projects and Self-Help groups. Thus, Aditya Birla Group has been playing a huge role in my life & in the lives of billion others improving the quality of living at each step of the process. How I overcame challenges in my life ives which inspired them and made them even more determined. The point to drive home here is that hurdles are inevitable, and no one can avoid them. But in order to be successful, is a function of how quickly one bounces back after hitting the hard bottom. The art of tackling lemons which life throws at you without being bogged down by the hardships that come along with it, is an essential lesson that one needs to learn and experience. Being only 26 years old with only two and half of years of Corporate experience, I feel I still have long to go in terms of experiencing what life has to offer, be it the harsh lemons or the sweet lemonade. Yet, there were some phases in my life which were more like hiccups and which required me to pull myself up and work my work through. The first incident happened when I was in the 6th grade. I was involved in an accident at school due to which I fractured my left arm.  Both of my bones had broken, and the doctor told us that it needs to be operated and would require a minimum of three months to recover fully. The incident happened 15 days before my school exams were scheduled. I was given an option by principal of my school that I can take the exams later after I recover. But I took this incident as a challenge and decided that I will not let this thing come into my way and that I would appear for the exams in the regular schedule. I studied for the exams while I was in the hospital bed, gave the exam after I got discharged along with the other students and cleared them with flying colours. The second incident that really challenged me was when I joined Ernst & Young. I was the only engineer amongst the experienced MBAs & the CAs of the team and with no prior knowledge of how the Corporate functions. I challenged myself and decided that I must do whatever it takes, how much ever time it takes, to get in and be successful in this field. I knew it would be an uphill task, but something for which I had up made my mind. My seniors were helpful and advised that the learning process needs to be an incremental one and that I should do one thing at a time. Little did I know that this advice of theirs would help me in different aspects of my life. I did hear them out and was ultimately able to do well in the 30 months that I spent at EY. This has also helped succeed so far in MBA at NMIMS where I am pursuing Marketing which is different from what I did in my graduation or my work experience. Even now, whatever challenge I encounter in my life be it in the college or in the personal life, I make sure that I do not take hasty decisions. I make sure that I understand what the problem is, what is at stake & I make sure that I make small & SMART goals that I can achieve progressively, so that I can achieve an outcome which is favourable to me. #NMIMSMumbai #ABGLPWooMeSeason2
