Part A - Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.
I have strong association with Aditya Birla Group since my childhood. I was born and brought up in Renusagar, Hindalco Colony. I did my schooling from Aditya Birla Public School which nurtured me with the core values such as Integrity, Passion, Commitment, Seamlessness and Speed. Now these values have become part of core values in my life. ABG employees are facilitated with best facilities in the small town be it academics, sports or any other extra-curricular activities. Such culture creates great learning opportunities for Aditya Birla Public School students. ABG club celebrates various auspicious occasions together in the colony which creates a sense of belongingness among the employees and their families. Such exposure groomed my personality.
I had my first corporate experience in ABG, as I did my summer internship in Aditya Birla Capital. I was in HR department, which can be quite daunting for somebody who has no relevant experience in the field. But, employees in Aditya Birla Health Insurance were friendly, I approached multiple people and they always gave their time. I really had a great learning experience.
My father always appreciated the working culture of Hindalco Industries Ltd, but when I experienced it by myself in Aditya Birla Health Insurance; I realised that all the subsidiaries of Aditya Birla Group are employee centric. They follow the best practices to create employee friendly culture in the organisation.
Starting from school to my first corporate exposure ABG has made a huge contribution. It has inculcated the best values in my life and I am proud to be related to Aditya Birla Group.
Part B - How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
This is a story of a 10-year-old girl who studied in Hindi medium school. As every other parent, her parents also desired that their child should study in public school but she was adamant to change. It might seem trivial issue now but at that time it was a big difficulty for her, as she would be leaving her comfort zone. After a long session of discussion, her parents were finally able to convince her to sit for the test. The test was divided into three sections Mathematics, English and Hindi. After few days results were declared. She scored full in Mathematics and Hindi but scored just 6 out of 50 in English. This was the first phase of demotivation for her. But, still she could manage to get admission into the school because the teacher who evaluated the paper recommended her.
She was enrolled for 6
th standard. Usually the first day of school is always full of excitement, but for her the night before the first day was a nightmare. On the first day, every subject teacher asked her to introduce herself. It was very humiliating for her to introduce herself in Hindi, when everyone around her spoke in English. The little girl started losing her confidence and developed inferior complexity. She wanted to give up, she felt depressed at such a young age. Everything was so different for her even her classmates did not talk to her much. She used to sit in one corner of the classroom. Having difficulty with academics was just adding to inferiority. She found it difficult to understand Science, Social Science (History, Political Science, and Geography) and English. Her morale was gradually decreasing. Finally one day her sadness busted into tears. She told her parents that she doesn’t want to study anymore. Her parents went to English teacher to seek help. Her English teacher started giving her private tuitions on English language and guided for three years. The teacher constantly motivated her and boosted her confidence. She gradually showed improvement. She stood first in
her batch, in 9
th standard. It was her first achievement. She did not give up and kept on working hard. Finally, in 12
th standard she scored 95 in English. Later, she cracked CAT and made into one of the prestigious management college- IIM Raipur. That girl is me. Yes, I had language problem but I never wanted this to be my weakness. So, I took it as a challenge and worked hard to overcome it.
