Finally, the day had arrived for which I had been waiting for, since weeks – The Interview day – First Interview of my life for the Job I had desired whole of my life. The nervousness that came along with the excitement was unavoidable. My exposure to professionalism was nearly zero until that day. But today was a special day, looking professional, confident and honest was of utter importance.
Gone are the days when you would go to a master (tailor), select the fabric, give measurements and pass through a week-long process to get a pair of decent looking pair of formals. The only brand that strikes your mind when you think of formal dressing for men – Peter England. I'm really grateful to ABG for having this amazing brand for men's fashion and formal dressings provide a variety of western formals for Indian consumers.
Be it a blazer for the Client meeting, or smart casuals for office on the weekend, Peter England has been my only choice. And there is a reason to be loyal to this brand, It helps you get integrated with western culture in the MNC while giving you the comfort in Indian climate – That too, at a very reasonable price. The garments are manufactured keeping every need of young Indians in mind, and I have not been able to find this level of satisfaction with any other brand till date. You can imagine the fine level of engineering that must have gone behind in the manufacturing – beginning from the selection of right fabric till getting the perfect stitch that gives the comfort of tailor-made dress to everyone.
For me, Peter England is not just the
dress, It is how I
address myself!
"Challenges" – What made me the person I am today!
I had always been keen on engaging myself in developing tools that would benefit society. During My last year of engineering, One of my projects was nominated for sponsorship by Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), where we had to design and develop a marketable product which can contribute in the betterment of society. The project involved dealing with the Department of Science and Technology in New Delhi, and also the selection and review committee of my college, Which required not only technical skills but also managerial and leadership qualities. This is the year when most people concentrate on placements more than anything else; and being the Placement committee coordinator myself, Pressure I was going through was touching the ceilings.
While others were taking a day's break before the Placement Interview for preparation, I was spending sleepless nights in the college with my team to achieve the outcome we had committed to the college and the Centre. Giving up was not an option; I was literally cursing myself for what I got myself into.
I found myself tackling too many things at the same time, spreading the focus so thin that nothing was getting the attention it deserved. That was the day when I realised the importance of planning in life. I came up with a schedule to give reasonably adequate time to my project, academics, soft skill development for placement interviews and the Placement Committee work. I had set smaller milestones to be achieved with the timelines and I also streamlined the work distribution for the teams to a great extent. I could notice the difference in just a few days, things started falling into its place.
My selection in one of the most desirable MNC on the first day of the placement came to my rescue, I no more had to prepare for interviews and I could contribute more towards other responsibilities. Just like this one, because of the fine scheduling of work and my dedication to the adherence to the schedule, I was able to manage through all the responsibilities satisfactorily. I completed the project and received appreciation from the department head; I received appreciation from the college for my support as a placement coordinator. I also completed my engineering with reasonably good numbers.
