Being a marketing enthusiast, working in the branding and advertising fields is what I was looking for when GoRural came into the picture. GoWhere the world is getting smaller and smaller with the advent of Social Media, there is a part that still remains untouched. The disconnect between the Rural and Urban realms of the society needs to be bridged. This will not only ensure effective marketing campaigns but will also help our great nation grow at a much faster pace. This is where GoRural India steps in. They have taken upon themselves the task of connecting stakeholders in rural, semi-urban, and urban areas by augmenting sales and branding avenues by means of exploring the assets of below-the-line media. An internship at GoRural India meant functioning in an exciting new space which comes with its own benefits. This is a chance that I simply could not let go of! Rural India is a marketing agency in Hyderabad with expertise in rural marketing. An internship at GoRural India felt like the perfect place to germinate my skills and work in the industry which I really like.
My job role at Go Rural India:
I was primarily responsible for Research and Development of markets in Andhra Pradesh and Client Acquisition. My internship became that much more rewarding when other responsibilities besides the project were assigned to me. Apart from these projects I was assigned other works also like Resident Welfare Activities (RWA), Planning BTL activities for clients. I was a little overwhelmed and a bit lost when I was assigned the R&D project. But as soon as I dove deep into the project, I was able to identify what information should be there in the data and how to make that data organised and attractive. This has enriched my research skills through primary data and this I feel is a life skill which will help me in the longer run.
My mentors & learnings during the internship:
My mentor was Mr. Peter Jacob, Strategy - Director, Go Rural India. He was the one who guided me throughout my internship. He shared his experiences on how to tackle problems, how to market any product, how to tap the best area for any particular product, BTL and ATL marketing etc. In every interaction with him, I learned something new about marketing which I could not find in any book. Also, I got the opportunity to work with Mr. Sunil (CEO, Go Rural India) who guided me in various aspects of rural marketing. An overall enriching experience, I could not have asked for anything else from an internship.
