Through the first time I got their email, I was surprised. One of the largest institutes in the country was taking their interviews through an online video-game-like role playing server? It tickled me even more because the entire process up till this date had been so smooth and seamless that this seemed even more foreign to me. However, I could not hope for a better way because it was handled beautifully.
Right from the start, we were assigned ‘Buddies’, who are senior students in SJMSOM whom we could contact any time we had a query. The beautiful thing about this was that this buddy did not change, and therefore the whole experience was much simpler if you had one point of contact to support you through this turbulent time. None of the other colleges did this, and it makes sense for a top institute to take the lead.
Not only was the process leading up to the interview seamless, but even on the platform we had people who were constantly in touch with us and wanted to genuinely make it an experience for people to remember. The interview panel was direct, polite as well as knew exactly what kind of questions to ask to get a conversation flowing.
Even more importantly, my selection did not happen in the first list, but as I waited the communication from the college was prompt, crystal clear and reassuring. They even had set dates: The waitlist will roll every Tuesday and students will have to confirm by Saturday. This continuity helped to calm down anxious nerves and help us feel more at home with this entire process. Through and through it was an extremely enjoyable experience giving my interview in SJMSOM and even now the communication is clear, crisp and constant. And I believe for any organization you are willing to join, for them to respond to you in such a way speaks volumes.
