Hi, I’m Shikhar Tandon. I am from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. I completed my B.tech In Computer Science Engineering from Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida. I also have a 24 months work experience with FICO and SAP Labs (combined).
Unlike many MBA aspirants, I had no plans of pursuing MBA until I started working. So, in a way all my preparation started along with my work at my organizations. Also, this pandemic has been harsh on us both, physically and mentally. Sitting in my chair all day, working for my company and then also studying for CAT was difficult, but I kept on going. And finally, when my result came, I was elated. I scored 98.24%, not the best but I knew I could get into top B Schools nonetheless.
But my definition of top B schools, like many other people outside MBA domain, was limited to IIMs and some other private colleges. I had no idea that IITs also have an MBA school of their own. When I got to know about this, I asked myself the same question people aske me now – “IITs also conduct MBA?”. Yes, yes they do! And it’s an elite one at that. I did my research and found out since I have been working in the IT domain, this is a perfect match for me. So I applied. And who would’ve thought, I got the call as well.
Now the interview experience. Well, what do I say. I don’t think I have been a part of a process as smooth as SOM’s interview process. Big thumbs up to ADCOM team for the same. We initially got our interview dates, instructions and even some domain-wise topics to study and prepare for the interview. About 2 weeks were given for the interview preparation.
On the day of the interview, Gather platform was used to make the online interview journey seamless and a very fun experience for all of us. Right from document verification to the final interview, all the processes were very easy to follow and understand. And if not, ADCOM members were very easy to approach to and very helpful.
To wrap up, the whole interview process was very smooth and had no confusing steps at all. Big thanks to the ADCOM and all the members involved. Looking forward to my 2 year journey with SJMSOM – IITB. Thanks!
