Being your true self can do wonders is all I have to say after landing my dream job at OfBusiness from the glorious walls of IIM Rohtak. OfBusiness was a name that was synonymous with good placements and even better exposure to the industry when I was doing my MBA. I was genuinely looking forward to hearing from them after applying, and it was soon after that when my dream turned into a reality.
The beginning of a new story
The preliminary steps
Before I sat for the interview at OfBusiness, I made sure that I was prepared. There’s no specific way to prepare but I covered all areas that could fall within the scope of an interview, especially about the relevant industry. I read about the ongoing trends in the industry and the company itself. I spent time understanding its way of working, its motto, and other important details. I also tried my best to know what qualities they would want in a candidate, while also trying to take all the cues about their existing work culture. Last but not the least, I was completely clear with all the things mentioned in my CV. I went through all the points carefully before the interview.
The selection process
This year, extraordinarily, my journey to OfBusiness started with the personal interview itself. There was no GD, nor an online test. After shortlisting, I had to appear for three rounds of interviews, all of which were to be taken virtually. I was ahead of schedule for the first interview and had already entered the call before the allotted time. It went for about 40 minutes, where I was asked about my previous internship experiences along with my personal growth through them.
I was also given some case-based questions on the spot pertaining to real scenarios in the industry. After a while of interviewing, the regional manager who interviewed me said, “Gaurav, if you are selected for the next round, make sure you show some more energy". I could feel that I got really nervous and apprehensive of the results. Soon after the interview, I was informed that I had cleared the first round.
The next step in my placement journey to OfBusiness, was an interview again by another regional manager. This time, I made a point in my mind that I would not lose my energy throughout the interview. The duration of the second interview was just 15 minutes, with questions related to my general interests, hobbies, and a few other things. I could see him satisfied with my answers and instantly knew that I was going to clear the round.
The last round, to my surprise, was taken by the HR of the company. Usually, one of the interviews is taken by the CEO or some other senior management executive. The last interview was all about my expectations from the company and why I preferred OfBusiness over other corporates. The answers to these questions felt easy to me because I went with a clear goal and a positive mindset and I answered all the questions honestly. It ended well within 10 minutes.
With the elaborate selection process, my placement journey to OfBusiness was absolutely enriching. I could sense how big boon confidence and clarity can be while being your true self to those you want to work with. It did work in my favor, and through ups and downs, I was able to make it.
An enriching experience
The whole experience was a memorable one. I was overjoyed not just with my placement at OfBusiness but also with the pedigree of the founders and current employees of the company. Almost all of them hailed from some of the best B-schools and had great past experiences. The company personnel also had a warrior spirit which especially brought out in me the will to succeed and get placed at OfBusiness. They were motivating especially during the interviews.
OfBusiness is currently one of the fastest-growing startups in the country, offering its employees ESOPs with an amazing pay structure. My placement journey to OfBusiness was nothing less than thrilling and exciting. I can’t wait to learn more with the visionaries in the company and soar high together.
