Part A
My hometown is in Kolkata and as I walk down my memory lane I can remember from my childhood all big wall paints of Ultra Tech Cements. I have a different fondness towards cement and still remember playing with cement and tried to make small houses using cement and bricks. I remember the commercial where it shows Trams and Victoria memorial and it’s probably the first advertisement of Ultra Tech Cement as in the ad it was showing name of L&T cement being cleaned and instead Ultra Tech cement was written.
And not only Ultra Tech Cement but Aditya Birla Groups presence is evident in the daily life of a large segment of the Indian populace. Aditya Birla Group helped Indian people in globalization and westernization and helped us change our fashion taste by bringing foreign brands like Allen Solly and Peter England. Clothing brands I rely on for my daily wear. There is a huge chance that the soft drinks can I buy from the college canteen was processed by a Hindalco plant or would soon be recycled by them. From my engineering days I have been investing in mutual funds through Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund and its online portal is very user-friendly and all schemes that I have invested gave me good returns. With returns withdrawn from mutual funds, I go shopping especially during Durga puja and Diwali time at Pantaloons stores and Pantaloons provide great offers and latest fashion clothes which I love to wear and it provides me my best look and appearance that woos other. And last but not the least I love to wear VanHeusen blazers and I have like 4-5 blazers which I use during parties and special occasions and they give me comfort and smart appearance. In short, the Aditya Birla group has taken India on its shoulders and helped it reach new heights.

Part B
On 23rd December 2017, my mother had an accident and broke her hip joint ball. My father was out of town at that time. So, I informed him about mom’s accident and asked him to come back. And on the same day in the evening, when he was returning, he had heart-attack on the train. Some co-passengers called me and informed me about that. For a while I got speechless and mind went blank. Not sure what to do. And that was the first time in my life I had to take every decision alone and which would affect my parents’ lives. I asked those co-passengers to book an ambulance and admit my father at Peerless hospital. They were helpful. They did that. I also reach the hospital from my home. I talked to doctors. They said it was a mild heart attack and asked me to keep him for 2-3 days in the hospital for further observation. Next day I took my mother to R.N. Tagor hospital for hip surgery.
For next 3 days, I had to visit both hospitals, had to talk to doctors, did all medical paper works and insurance paper works that required in hospitals. In that short span of 3 days, I learned a lot about responsibilities and adulthood.
Those days were the most difficult days in my life and everything was against me. In difficult times your parents become your support but for me, they were hospitalized and I can’t consult with them because if I do that they will worry more. They had enough in their plate too.
With all these in my mind I had responsibilities towards my team also. I was leading a team at that time and it was yearend. I had deliveries for my client which could not be delayed. After coming back at night I had to take long meetings with clients and stakeholders.
With all these challenges I had, with the grace of God and my team members, everything went fine. My parents came back home from the hospital and our team could deliver the project on time.
Above one is one of many challenges I have faced in my life but no doubt it was the biggest challenge of my life.
