Part A

What is the entity that is the Aditya Birla Group. It is not merely a multinational conglomerate that saw India through the tough times pre-independence, it is one that helped put India on the Global Business Map after her Independence and has since then been contributing towards India's growth both as a business leader and with its own culture by upholding the banner of Integrity and Compassion. Not having looked back since its inception in the 1960s, Aditya Birla Group has established itself as the de facto leader in various sectors that it has ventured out. Myself like the various citizens of India, have been supported in our day to day lives, have had greater achievements and prospered because of the opportune assistance provided by the group in our lives – be it the construction material of cement or the electricity that we consume in our day to day lives from the renewable sources. We have been greatly aided in our lives in some way or the other often without even knowing about their assistance. Coming from an agricultural background family, me and my family have seen our fair share of difficulties with pests and rodents we have been greatly assisted by the Indo Gulf Fertilizers (IGF), making our lives easier because of their pesticides and their improved seeds that provide a greater yield. I have been aided in a lot of other ways by ABG, the one I can remember the most vividly is when malls had just started cropping up in India. Pantaloons was the place that you would start out with your shopping, the place where you would find the clothing that you need - be it the clothes that my mom would get for my brother and me or the clothes that I would get before starting my life at IIM Visakhapatnam. This confidence, it is not one that can be created in just a year; it is one that requires years of quality and customer satisfaction. These couple of paragraphs though not painting the entire picture should give you the contribution of ABG in my life and my reason of trust in it.

Part B

I am an engineering graduate who was into Cybersecurity and was fortunate enough to get into Ernst and Young straight out of college, so I didn't have to struggle to go looking for jobs after I got out of college. I was part of a great team – in Identity and Access Management, who were very supportive and helpful to the newcomer that was me. Then after a year, I was made the first point of contact for one of the tools in the project I was working on. Initially, it was all fun – learning every day, exploring and experimenting what I read, addressing issues that came up. But then we received a Priority 1 incident, being a newcomer and never having come across a P1 incident I was unfamiliar with the exact proceedings and noticing the severity shook me, then I got to work bringing in all the stakeholders and looking into the incident. The entire system for my technology was down, and the communications were not going through, I went through the entire manual to resolve the issue and since the incident came pretty late in the night, there was limited help that I could ask for among peers as well. Then the support that my manager gave me and what he said is something that I can still remember – ‘Calm down, even if you get all jumpy the problem won't resolve, so take a deep breath and when you have calmed down enough look into the issue again'. The incident got resolved after about 3 hours we received it from but the experience at that time – explaining the situation to everyone on the call, trying to figure out the solution were one of the longest 3 hours of my life and I realized the importance of a calm mind and the effect it can have on other people. Since then this is what I have tried to adhere to in my life and address every curve ball that life has thrown at me with a cool head, and this has helped me at various stages of my life – both personal and professional, to resolve and diffuse the situation.
