My tryst with Mahindra & Mahindra started back in 2016 when I joined the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. As a new entrant, I experienced varied opportunities to learn and develop necessary capabilities. With the desire to explore the business domain, I moved ahead to pursue MBA and being selected for the coveted Mahindra GMC summer internship program, I felt elated to get the opportunity to be a part of the Mahindra group once again.
Prior to the start of the internship, I connected with my guide and buddy, who provided me the much-needed clarity for the path ahead, which initially seemed hazy. The voyage which started from Jamshedpur found its first destination in Mumbai in Mahindra Park, which became my home for the initial week.
It was the morning of 2nd April. Travel to the office was accompanied with the view of the Worli Sea Link and I could not help but be amazed by the beauty of the city. 8:30 am, and I find myself standing in front of the revered red building, Mahindra Towers at Worli. The welcome by the group, with goodies, which would be a lasting memory for me, was a delightful experience. Interns from different corners of the country who joined in this voyage shared their perspectives and the underlying stories.
The three-day induction was a deep dive into the Mahindra group, which as rightly mentioned by the group leaders is a banyan tree with various companies as its beautiful branches, exploring different sectors, yet bonded together by a common purpose and the desire to RISE. From providing better mobility solutions in future to being the companion of the farmers, the passion and unbeatable desire to excel I witnessed in the voices of the leaders who introduced us to these varied colors of the umbrella organization, inspired me to aim higher goals and persevere to achieve them. Interacting with Mr. Anand Mahindra over diverse topics ranging from life's purpose, leadership to politics made me revere the humility of the binding force behind the Mahindra family.
A one-day workshop on design thinking was organized after the three-day induction process, which introduced me to various alternate and efficient mechanisms for problem-solving, which provided me an essential direction for the journey ahead.
With the induction coming to an end, I started towards the next destination, Bengaluru, where I was introduced to the path-breaking initiatives being taken by Mahindra in the field of Electric Mobility through Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited. The company, formed with the inclusion of REVA Electric Car Company into the Mahindra Group, is exploring the way ahead towards a cleaner and energy efficient future through diverse products and hence presents forth for me, chances of immense learning.
As I look back towards the starting point, the future seems filled with opportunities to learn and widen my horizon. With these thoughts, a heart filled with joy and a mind focused towards the goal, I set my steps ahead.
