I was not aware of the fact that IITs offered MBA programmes and that they were so good before my CAT exam. Looking at various parameters of many colleges, I dreamt of getting into SJMSOM, IIT BOMBAY.
I looked up multiple interviews of Tier - 1 colleges and that only intimidated me. In retrospect, I had a wakeup call and started preparing for various General Knowledge and academic topics.
Apart from these, I had prepared basic economic terms and updated myself with daily news.
On D-Day, we were given access to a vintage retro gaming environment where every one of us ( the candidates ) had an avatar which could interact and move around within the platform. It was very new and intriguing. My turn was towards the end of my group but I was very composed and comfortable since a student from SJMSOM who was our incharge. He was present with us at all times, ensuring smooth transitions between candidates and also to keep the spirits and morale high. He shared a few anecdotes about how he handled his prep and interview process and how he felt when he finally made it to SJMSOM.
When my turn arrived, I was welcomed by a 3 panel interview and was asked various questions about how I learned new things during my work. I was also asked about how the pandemic affected me and how I made the best out of it. Following these were questions about my strengths and weaknesses along with the reasons. The interview was testing my proactiveness and comprehensive outlook. It lasted for a duration of 7-10 minutes since I was at the end of the slot, but was the best interview process I had in my entire career yet.
