I must say, the interview experience at SJMSOM was totally unique and smoothest compared to all others. Not because I’ve converted the same but because it actually was. They created a virtual platform ‘Gather’ where every candidate was given his avatar and a virtual character. It depicted the SJMSOM campus and mocked the whole process that would have been carried out during normal times. From document verification to final interview room, it was no less than a physical experience.
Coming to my interview, I still remember waiting at those virtual tables along with other candidates where all of us were talking to kill our anxiety. In these conversations when I said, it’s my hobby to sing, (you know what was coming next) I was asked to sing and I happily did. I was adviced by my co-ordinator as well as others to sing the same song in the interview as well.
When my turn came, as usual I was asked to introduce myself and throw some light on my profile. The conversation began with my views on the trending topics then, the budget, farm bills, implications and impacts and what were my views on the same. Since I’m a fresher, an IIT Bombay professor got indulged in my final year project. I comfortably answered the questions as I was recently working on the same. Again, the common question which is asked to almost all freshers was thrown at me, “why not take work-experience and then re-apply?” I gave my pre-prepared answer and listed out the advantages of being a fresher.
In the end, I asked them politely, if I could flaunt one of my hobbies and sing a song. I was given the opportunity and I took it well. I was praised by all the panelists and this is how my interview ended. I once again, mention that this smooth experience of mine couldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the admissions team. Kudos to them!
