I embarked on my journey to pursue an MBA and having got the opportunity to pursue it from IIFT was a dream come true for me. Well, I had set out for this journey with mixed feelings, one marked with emotions but also a vision to excel at the same time. Having stayed in Mumbai for 25 years, it was undoubtedly a tough moment for me to leave the place where I was nurtured by my parents right from the time was I born. Going away from the city having closed ones, alma mater, my first organisation and so many memorable experiences made me emotional. It might seem childish and immature of me considering the situation I was in while leaving for Kolkata, but this is what I had experienced and I could not have hit at the truth more aptly.
The day had arrived. On the day of my departure, I was excited as well as nervous. I reached Kolkata with my dad a day before and we booked a cab from CCU airport to IIFT Kolkata. Having gathered some basic information about the city, I was too excited to see my alma mater and no wonder, the first view of IIFT from the cab enthralled me to the fullest. In the serene lush green campus, stood tall the prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The pond was indeed a treat to watch and was an icing on the cake. I was indeed awestruck and so was my dad, in whom I would sense a feeling of pride too. Well, I had to find my hostel room as well and not just continue being enthralled by the B-school.
Thankfully I did recognise some of the faces, whom I had interacting before during selection process. This helped me replace my nervousness with comfort. Well, it feels great to meet new people and make new friends. And it was a first time when I was interacting with the future Managers, I mean my colleagues. After the registration proceedings and allotment of hostel rooms, the first day of our B-school MBA Journey was about to begin. We were addressed by our Program Director who indeed made us feel at home. He did mention the rigorous schedule we would be facing in the next 2 years but those inspiring words made us stronger. It filled me with a feeling of motivation and imbibed an urge to do well in all spheres of life.
Many students might hesitate to agree that placements are their first priority. But along with gaining the coveted managerial skills, what heats up their discussions are the summer interns and the final placements. It was no surprise that almost everyone had gathered sufficient information about their dream companies and the roles they offer. And for the finance enthusiasts, it was Aditya Birla Capital which they had on the top of their list. Well, I was not an exception.
Aditya Birla Capital Limited has always been my dream company. The myriad financial business profiles it offers would make any Finance enthusiast go crazy. My dad being an active investor in shares and mutual funds, I have been hearing about business tycoons, with Sir Kumar Mangalam Birla, undoubtedly being one of them. He won several accolades and helped the company attain great heights. And getting a chance to work in such an esteemed organisation would be life-changing. My inclination towards AB Capital Ltd can be attributed to my love of Finance. I have also been an ardent follower of stock markets and SIPs, being one of the proud shareholders of AB Capital. AB Capital would provide an extensive platform to attain skills and provide diversified profiles. It has its roots in various sectors like life insurance, asset management, corporate finance, equity broking and many others. The friendly work culture it inculcates and the way it helps protect people what they value. The experience it would offer would indeed shape a career of an MBA aspirant. This is what every MBA aspirant craves for. And Aditya Birla Capital would indeed provide a Midas touch to every budding aspirant.
