Make In India - Electronics Product Policies on Its Way
It has been quite some time now since the government under the leadership of Mr. Modi has launched Make in india campaign. However, no major progress has been observed till date. NITI Aayog, government's premiere think tank, will soon come out with an electronics product policy that would focus on ways and incentives to manufacturers to produce in India. This would also help significantly reduce India's electronic imports from China.
To pay or To Not Pay for Call Drops
In one of the recent mandates by TRAI, the regulator has asked telecom companies to compesate subscribers for each call that gets disconnected due to fault at their end. The potential impact of this decision is close to 3% of revenue and 7-8% of EBITDA on mobile operators annually. The decision to pay is still on hold after telecom carriers filed a case in the Delhi High Court. Though the court order has been interpreted favorably by telecom carriers, TRAI's final decision to force telecom operators to pay or to not pay customers is still not clear.
