What is a dream score? 215-225/360 should be an ideal score for getting a GD/PI call for NMIMS, Mumbai. Don’t worry about normalization and the focus should only be on getting as many questions right as possible in 120 minutes and ensure that you don’t get stuck in any of the questions and attempt all of them in stipulated time assigned to each section. Key to success in NMAT.   Break up of Scores: QUANT/DI/DS:- 75-95 Expected Sectional Cut-off Score : 75 (approximate) Excellent score:- 80+ VERBAL:- 60-70 Expected Sectional Cut-off Score : 56 (approximate) Excellent score:- 65+ LOGICAL REASONING (Most important section):- 75-90 (approximate) Excellent score:- 85+   Now comes the most important question - How to achieve this score? It is essential that you finish off your CAT syllabus preparation by July end at least once and start giving mocks. NMAT mocks should be given at least once a week and you should start the analysis of your respective weak section and simultaneously keep practising. But it is very essential to give at least 8-10 mocks before you appear for your actual NMAT to get your strategy in place.   Expected NMAT Paper Pattern (based on previous paper analysis)-   SECTION 1 (QUANT) For QUANT/DI/DS:- QUANT:- (32-35 Expected Questions)   DATA INTERPRETATION Data Interpretation is the most difficult section in NMAT because it is calculation intensive. 9-10 Q’s expected from this section. TOPICS:- 1)BAR GRAPH:- 1 SET - 3 Q’s 2)PIE CHART:- 3 Q’s (Most important) 3)TABLE:- 1SET - 3 Q’s   DATA SUFFICIENCY You can expect 4-5 questions here. Do the basic problems given in the Arihant CMAT book.     SECTION 2 (VERBAL) This section will have 32 questions. The expected break up is as follow- 1)READING COMPREHENSION:-  3 SETS 12-14 Q’s. The expected time to be taken here should be 8-9 minutes. 2)VOCABULARY BASED QUESTION (Most important in NMAT) 7-8 Q’s in this section. You will realise the importance of ‘Word Power Made Easy’ after you are done with your NMAT Paper. So it is better to start doing that book now. 3)SENTENCE CORRECTION, GRAMMAR BASED QUESTIONS,FILL IN THE BLANKS:- 3-4 Q’s 4)PREPOSITION:- 3-4 Q’s (It’s a cakewalk) 5)STRONG AND WEAK ARGUMENTS, ASSUMPTION:- 2-3 Q’s 6)PARA JUMBLES:- 1-2 Q’s (Not that important for NMAT)     SECTION3 (LOGICAL REASONING)   The LR Section will be the deciding factor whether you are going to get into NMIMS or not. It is a very important section and if you can score 80+ you will have fun at the NMIMS campus for the next 2 years. EXPECTED BREAKUP (All CET related topics come in NMAT) 1)NUMBER SERIES:- 1-2 Q’s 2)FAMILY TREE:- 1 Q’s 3)STRONG AND WEAK ARGUMENT:- 2 Q’s 4)COURSE OF ACTION:- 2 Q’s 5)ASSUMPTION/INFERENCE:- 3 Q’s 6)CUBES AND DICE:- 1 Q’s 7)MATRIX BASED PROBLEM:- 3 Q’s (Very Important) 8)INPUT OUTPUT TRACING:- 6 Q’s (NMAT Special) (Very Important) 9)Arrangement-based LR Questions - LINEAR ARRANGEMENT:- 3 Q’s CIRCULAR ARRANGEMENT:- 3 Q’s CONDITION BASED LR QUES:-3 Q’s 10)CODING-DECODING:- 2 Q’s 11)DIRECTION BASED QUESTIONS:- 1 Q 12)SYLLOGISM:- 2-3 Q’s 13)LETTER SERIES:- 1-2 Q’s 14)ANALOGY, RANKING BASED QUESTIONS:- 1 Q   Overall the difficult level of the paper would be easy to moderate. There will be 15-20 CAT based questions out of 120 which you have already prepared for so don’t worry.   FINAL TIPS (Key Pointers):- -Practice CET Logical Reasoning questions. -Practice illustrations/solved examples from the Arihant CMAT book or any CAT books available. -Verbal preparation is same as your preparation for CAT. -Give as many mocks as possible. -Try to attempt all 120 questions in 120 minutes. -It’s time to get ready to crack NMAT in the next 5-6 months so get your act together to crack NMAT.   All the best!   --------- You can connect with Rohan Dhall on LinkedIn here.
