How deep Aditya Birla Group forms a part of my life can just be ascertained from the fact that my mother uses Freshwrapp packaging for tiffin every time she prepares food. All ambitions require perseverance, passion and commitment to turn into reality, seldom are they achieved without overcoming challenges. The ambition to be Head Boy (Student Council Head) in my school days became a reality after so much of dedication to the school activities and winning laurels throughout the first 11 years. This required immense participation in all competitions even though few were out of my comfort zone. Shivers, Stage fright had made me numb in the initial days but relentless practice in front of mirror, finally culminated into an articulate and compendious presentation/speech I delivered whenever I was given an opportunity.
The biggest challenge I faced was to help my father in setting up his business. Things were difficult and when the family was facing a cash crunch, a transfer of his work to South Africa further deteriorated the conditions. Being the elder son, taking full responsibility of my family was my priority till the time my father came back to India. Academics took a back seat, yet a constant urge to help him in market research kept me mentally strong and fuelled me to work alongside keeping my graduation studies at bay also. I handled financial accounting in the initial stage of his packaging business and also, we could do a product line extension, thus overcoming all the hardships and setting up a stable business for the near future.
I always wanted to study in a top MBA business school and this finally came true when I joined Narsee Munjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Further Winning HUL Carpe Diem, one of the flagship corporate competitions, as a campus winner, in MBA 1st Year was a dream come true. The competition was alongside our final examinations. To prepare the presentation within 3 days, after market research, insights analysis, lead generation and product offering formulation, with 24-hour constant working over the 3 days and managing the final examination also, was worth it given the learnings associated with it.
A dream never becomes reality with magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard-work.
