I recently moved to Mumbai, to pursue my post-graduation in management. As I was travelling across Bandra-Worli sea link, I wondered what made it possible to build such a massive bridge. It was UltraTech cement that went into its construction. India is still a very young country. There are few business groups which are playing an important role in the country’s growth and development. One of the few such business groups is “Aditya Birla Group”.
Aditya Birla Group has been an essential part of India and their presence is evident. Large segments of people are now connected via mobile phones and it has been made possible largely due to services provided by Vodafone-Idea. I have always been a car enthusiast and their innovation in carbon nanoparticles is making tyres much safer.
Being a college student, I must look happy and relaxed in my clothes and at the same time be fashionable. Louis Philippe, Van Heusen are the clothing brands, I rely upon. In my management studies, I constantly receive many important messages, E-mails and projects on my mobile phone and hence, it has become an important part of my life. I also need it for social media to make connections with various people. Hindalco aluminium, which is used to make cover glass for smart phones, helps me to protect my mobile phone from any sort of external damage.
So, the presence of Aditya Birla Group in my life is evident and massive. They are a global business power and is helping India to reach new heights. Their success is not only essential for themselves but for the millions of people in the world.
Part-B: Overcoming Challenges
As I entered my graduation college, life started to present various opportunities that helped me recognize the interests and strengths. Life started testing my aspirations and goals. These goals led me to an amazing idea of a start-up, to make T-shirts and print logos for various societies of my college as well as of others. For this I met presidents of various societies and showed many designs. My designs were applauded by everyone and I received many orders. But there were many challenges. One of the major challenge was to arrange capital for the start-up. I did not want to ask my parents for money, so I used to save from my pocket money and take advances from the society’s president. I wanted to expand and increase the visibility of Benoy and for that I created pages on various social media platforms. Many of my friends appreciated it and even modelled wearing T-shirts and uploaded the pictures on social media platforms. Other challenges that I faced included- getting a good manufacturer. They usually have a policy of minimum order that they can take which is sometimes in hundreds. My uncle helped me to overcome this challenge as he is in the same business of manufacturing. He taught me how to negotiate with other manufacturers and also determine the quality of the fabric.
Working and earning money gave me immense happiness and a sense of satisfaction. I loved meeting new people and it helped me in developing communication skills and customer dealing skills. One thing I know is that all the dedication of my time and effort would help me in becoming successful in future. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of my family and friends.
