Aditya Birla Group is one of the leading companies in the world with wide range of products and services and is not only limited to people from premium segment but also has a huge influence on different sections of the society. The first thing that comes in my mind whenever i heard the name of this giant indian multinational conglomerate takes me to my childhood days when we used to live in a small house beside which some construction work was going on. I used to go with my friends collecting empty cement sacks with ultratech written on it and after collecting those in huge numbers we used to tie them up make a round shape so that we could have our so called football. As i grew up and stepped outside my cozy room to pursue my higher studies it was then when i realized how ABG has been around me for years, be it the pantaloons or Peter England during my adulthood. I can recall a situation from my childhood days when I lost my grandfather at a stage where my family was not financially sound to bear the expenses even for our education. It was our grandparents who were in way supporting us both financially and emotionally. But after my grandfather's demise it all came upon my father to take care of the whole family. For few months we had a very rough time that any one can imagine, but then a hope of light came when we heard of the insurance policy that my grandfather took during his service days. It was the Aditya Birla sunlife insurance, this small wise decision of my grandfather proved to be a blessing for the whole family. My father still recalls those days and shares everytime we all get together about the hardships that he faced and about the support he received from the insurance company. After so many years my father still asks us to invest wisely whether it be mutual funds or anything else that could help the family in situation of crisis.
Now coming to the impact part, I have been an average student throughout my career. Never had an opportunity to stand on stage and receive any awards for my excellent academics. After my secondary examination i was unable to get into any top school for my higher secondary education which forced me to join a college of my state board. This was kind of an eye opener for me that where i stood among my friends. After clearing my higher secondary exam , i was also among many who had a dream to become an engineer. Filled in lots and lots of forms but couldn't clear any exam, again saw another rejection to add to my list. With no where to go i was forced to drop for a year and prepare for my JEE exams. It was that time when every parent wanted his/her child to get into IITs , so i also pulled up my socks and started preparing for it.The day of result came and again couldn't produce the happiness which my parents were hoping for, ultimately had one chance to prove to my parents and luckily got a fresult in my favour. Got into BIT Sindri a state government college, but with low rank I was forced to choose a domain which i never wanted. After successfuly completing 3 years of my Btech it was high time as we stepped into our final year. this was the time which we all had been waiting for " The Placements".During the first phase of my placement journey i got rejected for more than 6 companies which was really disheartening for me, bjut learned a lot from those rejections. During my final placements i got a golden opportunity to be a part of the Aditya Birla Group when Hindalco visited our college for recruitment of Graduate Engineer Trainee. It was a big opportunity for each of us to be a part of this organisation, we started preparing for it, again after reading about the company i came acrosss that Hindalco was operating under ABG which has been around me for so many years, this certainly filled in with the kind motivation that i needed. Luckily my efforts didn't go in vain and was shortlisted for the GD&PI rounds, unfortunately i was unable to clear my PI which really disheartened me. But this experience made me much more confident and taught me never to give up even when the odds are against you.Got the opportunity to interact with top officials of such a huge brand was something which i will remember for the rest of my life. After all those rejections i was finally shortlisted for a company thus getting my first job, this didn't stopped me from moving forward and tried my best to achieve what i always wanted in life. After brief stint with my first company , the happiest moment of my life came when i received my appointment letter from a PSU (Steel Authority Of India Limited). This small journey taught me that we should not hold ourselves , always learn to take a step forward towards our goal whether we fail or succeed, perseverance is the key to success and never hesitate to take one more step , who knows what that small step i going to bring for us.
