WHU- CIO Leadership Excellence Program - India Module 2017 February 8, 2017 | The MYRA School of Business On 8th February, 2017 MYRA School of Business, Mysuru played host to ten CIOs from Germany. The CIOs were part of the third edition of the CIO Leadership Excellence Program organised by IDG Business Media, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, and Hewlett Packard. The participants had a first introductory session at WHU in Germany, and then visited the MYRA campus at Mysuru. Those present included Mr. Rüdiger Ernst, Director Consulting, Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Germany; Dr. Michael Stender, Head of Business Applications, SMA Solar Technology, Germany; Tobias Rölz, Head of IT Workplace & Application Services, Hilti Befestigungstechnik, Switzerland; Klaus Vogl, CIO, Semikron Elektronik, Germany and Dr. Rebecca Winkelmann, Managing Director Executive Education, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Shalini Urs, Founder and chairperson, MYRA School of Business and Dr. Sudhindra Sheshadri, Dean. Later Dr. Urs gave the visitors a snapshot of higher education in India. Dr. Urs took the audience on a journey beginning with ancient India's pioneering efforts and rich legacy in knowledge dissemination; the current ecosystem and regulatory framework; opportunities for investment in the sector and challenges thereof. The presentation was followed by an interactive group discussion on several issues pertaining to higher education in general and management education in particular. The CIOs shared their views and experiences on matters pertaining to accreditation of institutions; entrance tests and talent acquisition as well as the demand for and supply of highly specialised management courses including sports management, insurance management and tourism management. The discussion enlightened everyone about the common issues faced by industry and academia in both nations. The program ended with a power lunch where as per the tradition at MYRA, a privileged group of students drawn from the PGDM and PGPX courses had lunch with the delegates and had a lively and mutually enriching discussion on topics ranging from football to financial reforms; from Beethoven to business analysis. Ms. Pratibha Messner, Faculty Director, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management; & Director, GloBus Research, India and Dr. Dr. Wolfgang Messner, Director of GloBus Research – Messner Consulting & Training Pvt. Ltd and Professor of International Management, MYRA School of Business – both close friends of MYRA were the coordinators for the program. The visit was a harbinger of deeper and more meaningful relationship between the business leaders of Germany and one of India’s emerging leaders in higher education – MYRA!
