Taking India to the world! Growing up, while walking on my way to school there was a small house being constructed and every time I walked past it, there were sacks of cement just piled up right outside. The name of the cement company was Ultratech and this is my earliest memory of the Aditya Birla Group. From my first white Peter England shirt to my first Van Heusen suit, Aditya Birla group has not only touched my life but it has also touched the lives of billions of people worldwide. We all have the memory of playing with the cricket ball made out of Freshwrapp aluminium foils in which our mothers had packed our lunch for that day. When I first moved to Kolkata during the days of my middle school, I took my time adjusting to the place. I remember visiting Pantaloons one day and being able to check out so many clothing brands under a single roof made me realise the fact that I was not in a small town anymore. My father before moving had told me that my life was not going to be the same anymore and as it turns out, it wasn’t. Aditya Birla Group is also socially responsible group. The group runs more than 18 charitable hospitals which help improve the life in suburban and rural parts of India which has saved countless of lives. Aditya Birla Group has more than 120,000 employees all around the world. They have shown their strong believes in giving back to the society time and again which was recently evident after Aditya Birla Group donated Rs 50 crore towards CM’s Relief Fund for the cyclone (Fani) affected areas in Orissa. Looking back at my life, growing up I always felt I was being held back because of my own laid-back attitude. I also see a kid who was scared to stand out. We hear stories every day about how people achieve big things by starting to aim high in their lives. But somehow, I didn’t realise failing recognise the innate impact of bad attitude and how it gets translated to how I approach things in the outside world. To be honest, I lacked the ability to set a goal for myself. So, after graduating from school I embarked on a new journey of becoming an engineer. But my problem at the core was still the same. I used to procrastinate my duties and responsibilities when I was in college but I soon realised how negatively it was impacting my career. That was the moment when I started to gradually turn myself around and bring about a change in my attitude. It had an immediate impact on my academics, I observed that my CGPA went up for the remaining semesters. I also saw a change in my approach towards the small things in my daily routine. A task which I wouldn’t even pay attention to started to catch my eye. I realised the challenges I faced were only inside my head and they could be overcome with a little amount of effort for my own betterment. I started giving myself deadlines to complete my tasks in order to overcome my habit of procrastination. The results of my effort were visible by the end of my college life as I was placed in Capgemini during the last year of my engineering and things have only gotten better from there. Today, I am pursuing my MBA from Goa Institute of Management, one of the top business schools in India. #GIM #ABGLPWooMe
