MANTHAN- An intra college elocution competition is organized in my college every year. In this competition, a participant is asked to stand on the stage and to give an extempore speech in front of the audience.
In the 1st year, I registered myself as a participant but didn’t have the courage to stand on the stage and to face the audience so I ran away from the competition. In the 2nd year, I again participated and made the courage to stand on the stage but my fear of public speaking got the better of me and got me eliminated in the competition. In the 3rd year, I again took part with more efforts and practice and secured 3rd position in the intermediate round.
What I learned from this competition was to never give up and always try hard and hard for something which seems a problem to you because we fail when we gave up trying to achieve something, not when we are still trying.
I always knew that to be a Master of Business Administration, one has to be at least decent if not best in speaking and I wanted to be an MBA so I didn’t give up on my dream due to my weakness, but instead worked hard and smart on my every loophole to be in my way to be a MBA. This incident was one of my biggest hurdle that I overcome but there are also some others like Body language, working in a team, etc.
