Klaus Schwab said, “Change can be frightening, and the temptation is often to resist it. But change often provides opportunities- to learn new things, to rethink tired processes, and to improve the way we work.” Shifting from a core sector to a business school was one prime decision that has and is catapulting a Change in my life. Three months, eight subjects, innumerable assignments, quizzes, projects, inductions, competitions and what not. IIM Amritsar indeed bestowed me with a daunting change but yes, to experience it constructively, I have been strategizing and prioritizing my tasks. Reading has been my hobby but interpreting 10-20-page case studies are something really arduous. So my first priority has always been to decipher them aptly and also refurbish my views. Competence to relate the case with current examples in newspapers is a concealed advantage which is being provided by reading regularly and exhaustively. Whenever one enters a B-school, one is always befuddled while deciding his major specialization. Same was the case with me as well. I resolved to attend induction programs conducted by various clubs and committees and believe me, they are the finest modes to give a concise aspect of various specializations.  Group activities performed enabled us to interact with future cohorts. Supervision provided to me by my seniors was compelling enough to galvanize my interest. In such a short period, I have been fortuitous to witness Yukti-2018, HR Conclave of IIM Amritsar that fetched perceptive thoughts from industry leaders. One ubiquitous recommendation has been to strengthen quantitative skills. We have a dedicated subject for the same, but I believe it requires extra efforts to speed up calculations. I have been practising examples from QM book religiously in order to get a grasp on these skills and also bolster my discerning skills. Though I have a bit of work experience, the knowledge of Excel required for management purposes is a demanding one. I have been attempting to solve as many problems as possible, took an online course but the expanse of the subject never ceases to exist.   “Competition is the keen cutting edge of business, always shaving at costs.”- Henry Ford. Though I am at an amateur stage considering business acumen, I have been participating in various business competitions registered on D2C platforms, I have even reached the second stages of two of them. These are actually building in me the tendency to contest as well as dealing with consistent defeats in an energetic way, which will eventually aid me in the corporate world. And lastly, I am trying to connect with new cohorts and build a rapport, probably this may help me in the future. I am also trying to remain connected with my seniors ranging from current college, previous college to the previous company for getting valuable insights for the tough road ahead. Accomplishing a B-School test, I believe, is how you adapt yourself fruitfully. The road ahead is a demanding one but implementing requisite changes can glorify your path.
