The day when your heart will be beating 100x faster, when your mind will be boggling with so many random thoughts and all your preparations come drilled down to this, the D-Day is finally coming. So, to make you all feel relaxed and more enlightened before stepping into your exam, we had a parley with Maru Jay, 99.41 percentiler, currently studying in IIM Lucknow.
What would be your tips for last days’ preparation?
Well, my first tip would be that the one hour of waiting before your test starts is very crucial. It's the time when most of us lose our cool. Try to keep your head in a positive direction at that point in time and half the battle is already won. Don't solve mocks now and don't learn anything new. CAT requires both, physical and mental health, so, eat and sleep well and as much as possible, avoid negative people.
Do you have any tips for revision?
Revisit your silly mistakes in past mocks and make sure, you leave them at home while going for the exam. Go through important questions of last year papers and just going through basic formulas and structures learnt throughout the preparation. Don't touch anything you aren't very comfortable with right now.
What would be your advice for attempting CAT? Take each section in CAT as a different test. Don't let the emotions from one section spill over to other sections. Remember, CAT is a relative test. If it's difficult for you, it's difficult for everyone.
Identify and solve easy questions first. It's not a battle with a single question but a war with the whole test. Have a broader mindset. And most importantly, be positive and don't take unnecessary pressure. This isn't the last chance that you're going to get. There are several others.
All the best!!
