DILR is a section that can make or break the CAT attempt. But I believe you have to approach this section most simply and have a particular mindset only. Therefore in this article, I would like to share the simplest plan for DILR preparation.
There is No DI & LR anymore.
Your approach should be to stop treating the DILR section as DI or LR individually. Rather than, treat this section as the Problem-solving section. Gone are the days when there used to be sets completely DI or LR-oriented. Now, these are more inclusive caselets. Hence, stop solving solely sets which are arrangements, selection, Bar Graphs, etc. They are good for the beginners. Once you have solved 5 sets of each topic, start solving inclusive caselets.
What is the simplest preparation plan for CAT 2024 DILR Preparation?
ONLY 4 SETS EVERY DAY!The only thing that you should do for DILR is to solve 4 DILR sets every single day without any miss. This is all you need to do to ace this section. As mentioned before, DILR is more of problem problem-solving skill. But the thing is you can not develop this problem-solving skill in a single day. Neither in a week. This skill requires consistent practice over time. That’s why 4 DILR sets every single day is all you need. Think of it this way, you have 4 DILR sets in CAT. Ultimately, you have to solve only 2 to score 99+%ile in CAT. When you solve 4 DILR sets every single day, your confidence will be strong enough to solve those 2 sets without self-doubt.
You need to give time to the sets. If you stick to the sets and quickly move to the solution or video solution, your problem-solving skills won’t develop. In such a situation when you are unable to solve the sets, you have to put pressure on your mind. Give time to the sets. 20 minutes, 30 minutes, or maybe 40 minutes but aim to solve it yourself. This pressure will expand your skills to understand your problem-solving ability and look at the problem set from all aspects.
My personal experience
I started my CAT 2023 preparation on 7th May 2023. On that day, I swore that I was going to solve a minimum of 4 DILR sets every day. That was all my preparation plan till CAT. I have not done anything else for DILR. For the initial 1-2 months, it was really hard. But once I started solving the sets, it was fun. There were days when I was solving 10+ DILR sets every day because I was enjoying the process. Till D day, I have done only this.
