Being the first graduate in my family my parents have always emphasised the need for a good education and that is why I wanted to study from an institute of national importance. After my first trial at Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) I stumbled to get into NIT but I did not give up, I joined a state government college and prepared for JEE again. It was challenging as I had to attend classes at the college, complete assignments, clear the semester examination and study for JEE. But through perseverance I cleared JEE and got into the same college which previously rejected me.
Last year when I was preparing for CAT, my mother got hospitalised and what was worse was that the doctors were not able to diagnose what was happening to her. Her whole body was red and swollen and she was in was in pain. I used to stay with her in the hospital and prepare for CAT. I used to travel 40 Kilometers to go to class and then stay at the hospital with my mother. This part was physically and mentally challenging for me because before this I had never seen my mother in the hospital. When you see your parent on the hospital bed, you the mortality in them. All emotions run up to you, you’re scared, angry, emotional, doubtful. If you don’t believe in god you’ll suddenly be the most religious person. Amidst all this I had to focus on CAT because my whole career was dependent on it. So I gave my best shot and converted NITIE this year.
Perseverance is what I follow because there will be challenges throughout our life and we have to face them in one way or the other.
