IIM Ranchi and IIM Udaipur have gained popularity among the new IIMs. We bring to you the key features and key differences between these two budding institutes.
PGDM at IIM Ranchi
City - The Momentum Jharkhand event conducted in February 2017 gave the students a platform to interact with various government and private institutions, international delegates and an exposure to new businesses flourishing in the state. Premiere institutes like XLRI, BIT Mesra and NLU in and around the city allow for interactions and healthy competition among the students.
Infrastructure - The academic and administrative block is in the heart of the city, with all the major offices and hotspots available within 3 km of radius. The hostels are situated in the Khelgaon housing complex on the outskirts of the city, which are 10 km from the main campus. Institute run buses are maintained for the students to commute throughout the day.
Entrepreneurship - The e-cell is a student-run entrepreneurship cell, with the guidance of the faculty of the institute. This body has been involved in drafting the start-up policy for the government of Jharkhand, among other government initiatives in the domain. The cell also actively interact with the society of local entrepreneurs in Ranchi and collaborates on live projects on social entrepreneurship (the butterfly project for example). The cell hosted the YourStory meetup, for the first time in the city, in the same regard. The cell has associations with 10000 start-ups. Their internal newsletter, Kreate, enlightens readers with an update from the startup ecosystem and success stories of entrepreneurs.

USP -IIM Ranchi is the first Indian institute to be a participant in the UN Global Compact and PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), and have a dedicated body working towards their commitment to this cause.
PGP at IIM Udaipur
City - Udaipur is known as ‘City of Lakes’ and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India due to its rich heritage. Some people say that visiting faculties love conducting sessions at IIM Udaipur due to this factor. Since Udaipur is not too far from Ahmedabad, it’s convenient for faculties from IIM Ahmedabad to conduct lectures at IIM U and be back in Ahmedabad on the same day.
Infrastructure - The new permanent campus of IIM U is a 300-acre site situated in Balicha about 8 km from the old city. The facilities include classrooms, libraries, computer labs, hostels, mess, canteen, etc. They also have a financial markets lab which features 12 fully equipped terminals with subscriptions to Bloomberg's suite of financial market information and analysis tools. The lab is open 24/7 and also provides a remote user facility to allow students to access the terminals from their residences. The student residences on campus are located within an easy walking distance of the Academic Block. A gym is open 24/7 in the Academic Block. Facilities and equipment are available for football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, carrom, table tennis and basketball among other options. Udaipur and the surrounding mountains in the Aravalli Range offer enthusiasts wildlife and nature trails, motorcycle excursions, bird-watching, camping and trekking. The entire campus has been designed for a GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) LD 5 Star rating.
Entrepreneurship - IIM U provides practical support to aspiring entrepreneurs. They provide the students with a stipend to help cover the basic cost of living. This ensures that students don't have to worry about their day to day subsistence and can focus on their larger objective of starting a venture. Students can take a placement holiday and opt to sit for placement interviews within 2 years of graduating. Saksham is the Entrepreneurship Cell of Indian Institute of Management Udaipur that organises various events and seminars.

Student Exchange - Students have the possibility of spending the fifth trimester (one out of six trimesters in the entire course) at one of five partner management schools in France and Germany during which they take equivalent electives (Master's degree, second year).
