This quote aptly captures the importance of memories in our lives. Memories form the building blocks on which our whole lives are built upon. Having an MBA life without the presence of some mind-boggling memory in the classes is almost impossible. One such moment came during our course on “Design Thinking”. We have heard since our childhood that the holy grail of modern education lies in its abilities to redefine the notion of learning. The biggest symbol that we associate with the traditional learning is that of an enclosed room containing some 100 odd benches and a raised platform where a lecturer can come and perform his pedagogy. However, it has constantly been debated that it must be accompanied with a fair share of practical learning to give a wholesome view of the education.
Our class of Design Thinking did exactly that. It was a proper mix of both classroom activities, lecture as well as an outside stint where we actually met and applied the thing that we grasped in the classroom. This was my first experience of how learning can be properly integrated with fun to give a sense of responsibility and meaning to the participant. We were given to choose our problem out of an array of verticals designed by them. Then, we were given time to brainstorm on that particular problem and come out with our solution in front of the class. However, it was the presentation and the actual implementation part that caught my imagination. It gave us a feeling of mismatch between simple conceiving a notion and its practical implementation in real life. We came up with a very innovative idea, but when we came to actual implementation of it, we got hold of harsh realities and problems that rendered the solution useless. However, we were encouraged to present that idea innovatively, and we got excellent feedback from the class which allowed us to make our idea implementable. So this was a situation in which we were able to build on our ideas and give something useful and good to the world. So the experience was very different, and the work that we did was significant, and we managed to get the highest grade in the subjects. So this memory of my life will always be there in my life, and I will cherish it throughout.
Which ABG would you like to join and why?
One company of Aditya Birla that I would like to work in is ABFRL. As it is the fashion retail wing of Aditya Birla, it would allow me to be acquainted with the fast-changing world of fashion retail. Coming up with something new in a span of few months or even few days in some cases is something that entices me a lot. It would allow me to interact with the market directly as well as frequently. Also being the largest branded retail umbrella in India, it would also allow me to meet and work with the best and brightest people in their field. Working in such a dynamic and vibrant industry at the starting of the career would be a very nice stepping stone and would allow me to build an illustrious career ahead.
