Before joining a B-School most of the people told me that you would hardly find time to breathe and that the two years are going to be hectic. In the initial days, I used to wonder if I would get time to do anything else other than the academics. But IFMR GSB ensured that its students develop versatility, by organizing a plethora of both academic and non-academic events. One such event is the Badminton tournament "Power Smash" organized by the sports committee, b-sportive. When the event was floated it was only 2 months since I started playing. The last time I played badminton before coming here was only in my class X. But interestingly, there was a rule that in each team of 5 there should be at least 2 girls. Men's doubles, Women's doubles and a Mixed double were the three rounds. We thought we have an edge over other teams because we had a master girl player in our team, who represented her state in badminton. With all the hopes on her, we signed up for the event. To be honest more than the tournament, it was the experience that I loved. Planning the time for practice, bugging the Sports committee to know about other teams, discussing strategies over Maggie with the team at 12.00 AM and many more. We had many good teams in the tournament. But just one good player in the team, a little confidence to play and a bag full of experiences is what took us to the semifinals. Maybe this is the beauty of an MBA programme. More than just knowledge and High CTC it’s about the confidence with which you try and experience different things in life, which will only make you better with each passing day. If you are an MBA aspirant, my suggestion would be to choose a B-school that gives you an opportunity to explore and experience over a B-School which gives you high CTC. All the best for all your future endeavours. - Bhavith Sunkara Student of IFMR-GSB Krea University
