A large part of my childhood was spent in my grandmother’s village. The village had its pristine and peaceful environment, but lacked many of the modern amenities that city dwellers enjoyed. There were, for example, no developed roadways nor roofing for houses. Although my childhood was quite fun, I do realize now that, had the same state of affairs continued till date, the villagers would never have remained as happy as they are today.
Yes, the village has prospered now. It sports a system of connected roadways and a flyover to boot. There is a mall to shop in, and houses are made of cement now. Telecom has thrived and the villagers are beside themselves with joy. I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t thank
Aditya Birla Group for at least 70 percent of this development, if not more. You ask why? Well, for one, the roadways and flyover as well as the houses have
Ultratech in them for strength. There are aluminium utensils to cook in (thank the gods for
Hindalco!) and people prefer going in droves to Pantaloons for their festive shopping. Although there’s a lot more, I would prefer to end with this short incident I observed few years ago in the selfsame village. As I returned to my house, I saw a farmer unpacking his lunch which was wrapped using a
Freshwrapp foil. He smiled and offered me a chapatti as I stared in wonder, and the windmill installed in his field rolled on.
On a similar note, let me talk a little about my personal life; the angst, the highs and lows, and the best part of the journey, the recreation. From a management student’s perspective, I categorize my life as an organization and in retrospect, I love to check on my progress as I go ahead. I attribute my successes and failures, both academic and social, to my value proposition (my qualities and attributes). Starting with negligible value, during my initial graduation days, I passed through graduation and built a theoretical repertoire in the Pharma domain, which I realized didn’t matter much. So, I strengthened my language skills, both written and verbal and managed to add-on a useful attribute which would be of significant use in the future. My post-graduation days in Bioprocess Technology taught me the importance of innovation and perseverance towards the execution of any possible task, and these skills got added to my list. Two years working as a Research Associate added professional etiquette and networking to my skillset and post that, when I worked as a Content Writer, I got the hang of gauging market demands and the vision of my clients to provide an integrated piece of work to satisfy both segments. Sounds tedious, but trust me, the process was enjoyable! I do make the audacity of comparing my tiny success to
ABG’s revolutionary one that I mentioned above, partly because, if I keep in mind the stars, I might possibly rise as far as the moon.
