Purvodaya 2024, a captivating three-day event hosted by the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, commenced amidst palpable excitement and anticipation. Day 1 set the stage with a comprehensive workshop on mutual funds led by Mr. Mohd Amir Sulaiman from Aditya Birla Capital. Embracing a spirit of altruism, the day also featured a Blood Donation Drive, underscoring the importance of community welfare and social responsibility. Following this, Samvaad, an enlightening online guest lecture series, showcased prominent figures such as Ms. Lula Mohanty– Managing Partner at IBM Consulting, Mr. Murali Ramakrishnan– Former MD and CEO, South Indian Bank, Mr. Sharad Sagar – Founder and CEO, Dexterity Global Group, and Mr. Michael Blackwell – Vice President & Managing Director, Medtronic India, who shared invaluable insights with students. The day concluded with a fun night thanks to a standup comedy performance by comedian Manoj Prabakar. Day 2 witnessed the official inauguration, a significant moment that heralded a day brimming with leadership wisdom. The Leadership Summit centered on the theme “Pioneer the Paradigm: Disrupt, Innovate, Thrive”, featuring a panel discussion with industry veterans including Ms. Ananda Shalini– CFO, Cavinkare, Mr. Debendra Mohanta– CEO, Inaho Digital Solutions, Mr. Pradeep Krishnakumar– Cofounder, Zouk, Mr. Satyaki Mookerjee– Chief Digital Officer, CEAT Limited, and moderated by Prof. Richa Chopra from CoE for Indian Knowledge Systems, IIT Kharagpur, ignited discussions on innovation and transformative leadership. Day 3 kicked off with a Marathon, promoting not only health awareness but also fostering a sense of unity among participants. Reminiscence, the alumni meet themed “Tales of Triumphs and Trials”, offered a nostalgic journey, revisiting the stories of esteemed alumni from the batches of ‘08 and ‘09, moderated by an alumnus from the batch of ‘17. OpsConnect, focused on the theme “Leveraging Technology to build Resilience in Supply Chain”, hosted by the Operations Club of VGSoM focusing on the infusion of technology and supply chain dynamics, brought together visionary minds including Mr. Anirban Sanyal– Head, Supply Chain and National Logistics at Century Ply, Mr. Soumov Kundu– Director, Operations (East), DHL, Mr. Sandeep Pratap– Head of Procurement, Eveready, and Mr. Anish Basu– General Manager, Supply Chain & Logistics, Berger Paints India, to discuss and innovate in the realm of business operations, with Prof. Surojit Mookherjee from the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, moderating the event. All these events provided invaluable insights and real-world perspectives, offering business school students a unique opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, broaden their understanding of industry trends, and gain practical knowledge that complements their academics. The Fest concluded with a Cultural Night, where the vibrant campus reverberated with a batch dinner and DJ Night, marking the triumphant conclusion of Purvodaya 2024. As the curtains draw on Purvodaya 2024, it leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and growth, encouraging students to challenge conventional thinking and aspire for meaningful change in their journey ahead.
