VGSoM Consulting Club known by their popular moniker VC2, launched their campaign of this year with the riveting “Rananeeti”. It was the first time that such an event was being conducted and no one had an idea that such an event was up the sleeves of VC2. Case Studies are a mainstay in almost every b-school across the globe and in most cases the freshmen learn the tips of this trade in the most traditional way possible, “On the job”. But the consultants at VC2 sought to shake up tradition and tool up the helm of preparing the freshmen for case studies. They did so with flair and picked up a theme which sought the interest of all. The theme chosen was “Welfare Policies” complete with a plethora of avenues to choose from. The topics ranged from the harsh realities of “Unemployment” and “Rigid Labour Laws” to the subtle nuances of “Large Budget Deficits” and “High Levels of Private Debt”. This event also saw the emergence of budding marketers in the new recruits of VC2.They aggressively marketed the event across multiple platforms including Facebook, Whatsapp etc. We also came to gauge that they got the fourth P of marketing right down to its intricacies with innovative promotion strategies and fundamentals. All this amount of effort didn’t go in vain as the event saw a deluge of entries from the students at VGSoM. It was a momentous task to pick a winner out of those, so much so that they had to pick 6 finalists to present their ideas. But I hardly doubt that they were prepared to witness such an epic battle of strategies. The final event started off with exuberant hosting with glimpses of spontaneous wit all throughout the evening. Be it the masterstroke of shuffling seriality or the generous offer to take all the finalists for a cup of coffee, the event was anchored exceedingly well. The finalists presented on varied topics such as “Poor Tax Collection Rates”, “Balance of Payments deterioration”, “Poor educational standards”, “Inefficient agriculture” and “Poor Infrastructure”. With crisp and impactful presentations and sound logical reasoning skills, the participants simply floored the judges. All in all, it was a battle of wits which only left the participants with enriched intellects.
