FMS. The Red Building of Dreams. Our campus is not at all how you would expect a BSchool campus to be. There are no large sprawling lawns, no giant buildings. In fact, it is one of the smallest colleges in Delhi University. And it is here, within this little area where dreams are made and lives are changed.

FMS is a place where everyone is welcome. You want to see how a day in the  life of an MBA student is like, just walk in and attend a class by our Dean, Dr Sunita Sengupta.  Just be careful to enter the classroom by 8.59.59, or you will see the door closing on you. When you simply cannot cope up with the endless tasks, your seniors will be there to help you with all sorts of tips and tricks. While you complain about how little sleep you are getting, your seniors will listen with a smirk. But they will not utter a single word about how they spent sleepless nights checking your assignments.

 Nobody can ever feel unwelcome at FMS. Animal lovers will be greeted by wagging tails at the gate. Hungry tired faces will be nourished by the friendly canteen staff who will always be there to listen to your woes, while you fill your faces with delicious poha.

The most unique thing about FMS is that is does not have hostels. While it seems like a disadvantage at first, it gives you an opportunity to live life on your own terms. As a result, it is very common to see young men and women dressed smartly in suits running through the narrow lanes of Kamla Nagar while munching on a piece of bread.

At FMS, you learn to manage with little resources. You learn not to crib or complain. You learn to be responsible. You learn to be a manager

Memorable BSchool  experience

I am lucky enough to be studying in a BSchool that is located right in the centre of the capital city. However, as it goes in a Bschool, we have been spending all our days in class and all our nights doing assignments. Even though I love to travel I was not getting any opportunity to explore Delhi.

Two days back, I came to know a classmate had her birthday. She had been going through a tough time, recuperating from an accident while being away from home for the first time. So a few of us got together and decided to throw her a surprise birthday party. We went up to her flat at midnight with a cake and balloons, sang songs and danced together. She was really touched that we all came to celebrate her birthday even though it had been only a few days and we did not know each other very well.

After dinner, I suggested we go for a drive. None of us wanted to go back to our flats and do assignments. So 10 of us crammed into 2 cars and we set off for India Gate. It was a really fun drive and we rode around India gate while singing “Roobaroo”, as is the custom. We then decided to take a walk along Rajpath. The night was cool and there was a very calming breeze. This was my first time out in Delhi and I was determined to make the most of it.

This was the first time we were outside of college, not worried about classes or tests or assignments. We all talked about our hometowns and our experiences and had a beautiful bonding experience. Even though we were classmates a few hours ago, we became friends that night.

This experience was really beautiful for me, and I felt like I was at a home away from home, surrounded by wonderful people

Introducing my batchmates

1. Komal Priya: She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She looks like a little girl, probably 16 or 18 years old. However, one must not make the mistake of assuming her to be weak or fragile. She is one of the strongest people. She has been living alone for 9 years and is very wise for her age. She has been through some very tough times, but she has emerged a winner through all of them. I find her to be really inspiring, and there are no limits to what she can do to achieve her dreams. A few days back, we had a competition where we had to earn money from the streets of Delhi. Komal just went all out and sang and danced with people without any inhibitions, and earned the maximum amount of money in her team. I am really grateful I got to meet a person like her.

2. Himangshu Singh: He is an amazing personality. Himangshu looks like an innocent little boy, but he is full of surprises. He had been preparing for UPSC for 3 years, and he reached the interview level twice. He meditates every morning, which gives him energy to go throughout the day. Every month, he takes up monthly challenges. One month, he learnt to act, dance and paint, all in 30 days.  He can direct plays and sketch faces, even though he has no training as such.

Which ABG Company would I like to work for and why?

If I am ever lucky enough to be chosen to work for the prestigious ABG Group, I would like to work for Idea Cellular. The entire telecom industry has taken a hit after the introduction of Reliance Jio. I believe such a monopoly would be harmful for the common people at large, and I would like to play a role in bringing the Idea Cellular brand back to its former glory. On top of that, I have a background in Electronics Engineering, and coupled with the knowledge gained at FMS Delhi, I believe I would be able to make a real difference.
