Red Building Of Dreams - Mohit Yadav, FMS Delhi

My College FMS Delhi is known for its small size and the resource crunch that it faces, But according to me, this is what makes it so unique among the top B-Schools in India. Even though we are not blessed with great infrastructure facilities, we are still able to compete with the other top B-schools in India. The reason for this I believe is that due to the constraints that we face, we learn to manage our resources judiciously from Day One. The small size is also a blessing as we are able to bump into our seniors or professors on a daily basis and therefore we get an opportunity to interact with them. There is a great sense of camaraderie in my college and everyone knows everybody else as there are so few of us. One other great thing about FMS is that everybody is treated as equal and vital to the college. From the Professors to the students everybody has to share the same resources. So for instance, you could find one of the topmost Finance Professor in the country standing behind you in the water cooler queue. Therefore, in this moment in time, you could easily discuss your ideas with him and this ease of access to the professor will not be provided anywhere else. Even though our building is so small that it ends before it begins but the heart of the people, who call this building their home away from home is big enough to accommodate each of us.

A memorable classroom experience in my B-school?

There was this one instance in my class where the professor had decided to conduct an impromptu skit. We all were nervous about how we would perform the skit without any prior preparation. We all were divided into groups of five and told to pick a piece of paper, which had our topic name written on it. My group’s topic was Black Money and we were given 20 minutes time to prepare for the skit. Even though the time given was not sufficient to come up with a good script, we managed to put together a decent script in the allotted time. When my batch mates were performing the skits, I was amazed at the amount of talent my batch was blessed with. It truly was a humbling experience for me and I was nervous about our chances of winning. When it was our chance, we gave our best and I was surprised to see that we were given a standing ovation by the professor. When the results were declared, we came second and it truly felt amazing.

Introducing some of my crazy batch mates?

i) Vishal Yadav- He did his under graduation from NSIT and has two years of work ex. He belongs from bulandshaer in Uttar Pradesh. He loves solving puzzles and has been doing so since his childhood. He is one of the most intelligent man that I have ever met. His dream company to join is Boston Consulting Group.

ii) Avinash Yadav- He did his under graduation from NSIT and has three years of work experience. He belongs from Haryana. He loves bungee jumping, kick boxing, and is a black belt in Karate. His passion in life is to form an adventure travel company. He is very passionate about travelling and loves to travel with just his trusted bullet by his side.

iii) Mohit Modi: He did his under graduation from ISM, Dhanbad and has two years of work experience. He belongs from Bihar. He loves playing cricket and is a state level kabaddi player. He is crazy about foods and is both a passionate foodie and a great cook. He is the one who cook’s for us at 2am when there is no Swiggy or Zomato to be found. His dream company to join is HSBC as he is a finance enthusiast.

iv) Mohit Kumar: He did his under graduation from NIIT Allahabad and has one year of work experience. He belongs from Haryana. He loves playing badminton and is crazy about video games. His dream in life is to win an international level gaming competition. Until then he would like to work in Amazon.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

My dream company to work for would be Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company, which is among the top investment managing companies in India. I want to pursue my MBA specialization in finance and therefore join a company where I feel that I can make a substantial contribution. In my view, working in an investment firm is one of the most rewarding job in the world. The reason behind that is that people trust you with their money and dreams which they hope to achieve with that money. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the investment firm to help these people grow their money so that they can achieve their dreams and I think that I can achieve that by working at ABSLAM.
