Our unique ‘campus’ differentiates us from other B-schools. FMS being a part of the Delhi University, the students get access to the DU campus which is our in-house campus. Most of the students stay in PGs, flats and DU hostels in and around the college. Thus, FMS not only teaches one to manage their academics but also their personal life. Staying in flats and PGs and battling each minute issue at home has taught us a great deal already. We often take pride in this distinct feature as we gradually learn to optimize the limited resources, a teaching which can only be experienced. Owing to this, FMS prepares us for the upcoming tides of struggle and enthralls within us the attitude of never giving up.

A memorable classroom experience in my B-school

One of the topmost memorable classroom experience I had till now was the Human Resource Management (HRM) class taught by Dr. Venkatraman. It was the introductory session to HRM wherein sir explained the evolution of HR. We started from the industrial era, went through the inclusive township model, glanced over the societal fabric of India during and after the British rule and how finally it has found its traces & formed the current skill of HRM. Dr. Venkatraman beautifully took us through the entire journey. I was mesmerized in the entire lecture as I had never imagined this management domain to have its own history. According to me, the professor brought life into the course. This was of course supplemented by the insightful discussion by my peers, which was the silver lining.

Introducing some of my crazy batch mates

Aditya Bhale: A person with one of the most diverse profiles in our batch, he holds masters in performing arts with specialization in Tabla. He has his own tabla school with around 34 students enrolled in the program and also runs a football foundation back home. He along with his father manage the school and the foundation

Navneet Kamal: A mechanical engineer from IIT Kanpur, Navneet Kamal is a proud author of his book, Earth Misses You A Lot. Being a Sci-Fi enthusiast and an avid writer, he found solace in amalgamating his sci-fi interests along with skills of management in his book.

Ruby Payal: A graduate from NIT, Jaipur she has trodden her own path with valor. She had to give up her MBA dream last year due to unavoidable health issues but came back stronger this year to fight it all out. An aspiring UPSC candidate, she is extremely passionate about social development and wants to work towards trickling down the benefits to the lower strata of the society. She is the ball of optimism and strongly believes in defying the status quo and contributing to the society

Veena M: An IT graduate from Kerala, Veena is an aspiring writer. She has literally walked the talk. Having her own humble beginnings, she contributed to the society by teaching students while she was pursuing her Bachelor’s of technology. Also, a drama enthusiast with laurels in her kitty such as the Drama Secretary of her college, she is indeed our very own drama queen!

Which ABG company I would want to work with & why? I aspire to work in Aditya Birla Retail Limited. Having pursued my Bachelors of Technology in Food Engineering & Technology from Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly known as UDCT), Mumbai, I have always been an FMCG enthusiast. I worked as the Business Development Lead in Firstmr Business Analytics, a business associate of Giract Consultancies which is a market research firm in the B2B food ingredients space. During my stint there, I got in touch with the then Head of Processed Food category and invited her for a speaker opportunity at our conference themed at Processed Indian Traditional Foods. Her talk gave me a different perspective to the FMCG retail sector. I realized that there was much more than just what met the eye. I seriously pondered about why each product acquired a particular shelf, what parameters decided the amount of shelf space dedicated to a product, why were certain products always placed next to each other in a mart, how does the consumer behaviour drive the FMCG retail sector. These are certain questions that I often ponder upon and would want to experience first-hand. ABG would be the appropriate platform for not just gaining these insights but also to put my technical & management knowledge to use.
