What makes my campus unique?

I am a student of Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi and this institution is one of its kind not only in India but in the world. There is no other institute which can boast of being in the capital of the country, being at the centre of education hub of world class institutions of Delhi University and surrounded by a plethora of corporates. All these insure that FMS has the best of faculty, guest lecturers, industry stalwarts, business leaders who can come to the campus to guide us in making correct career choices. The alumni connect that this institute has, has always given us an upper hand than other management colleges. The alumni of this great institution are spread across the country and all industries and occupy positions across verticals. This all makes FMS extremely well connected to the industry. Also, being a non-residential campus, the management capabilities of FMS students makes them the ideal candidates for the corporates.

A memorable classroom experience in my B-school.

Coming from an engineering background, I had never experienced the type of intensity with which group tasks are done in the classroom. In this instance, we were asked to get ourselves divided into groups and given a case study to read which was about the altercation between manager and employee and were asked to take sides and debate. The type of intense discussion that took place in this task was something which I’ll never forget. The groups completely immersed themselves in their respective roles and debated extensively. This experience was truly unique and I got to learn a lot from it.

Introducing some of my crazy batchmates

Shreyans Hinger: An innocent looking guy who is very soft spoken and socialises with everyone. He is a very cheerful person and can get carried away sometimes in this cheerfulness. Once during the farewell party of his college, he just got too drunk and started to behave like his favourite fictional character Bahubali. He began to carry 4 of his friends on his shoulders, while being dressed in formals and ran shouting Bahubali on the road. He went on running shouting for Devasena and when he couldn’t find one, he tried to make his best friend his Devasena.

Mukul Yadav: He is my flatmate and one of the many craziest guys that I have had the opportunity to meet with. He is a fitness enthusiast and a travel and trekking expert. He has trekked on the most difficult of terrains in the most difficult of weather conditions. He recently travelled to Leh-Ladakh where he trekked on very narrow stretches and also carried a friend with himself who was injured during this visit. And he now wants to do all that once again.

Aditya Bhale: He is one of the craziest and talented individuals that we have on the campus. He is an extremely talented singer and a very articulate table player. He has sung and performed in front of numerous strangers and once sang in front of 100s of common people while roaming around in the streets of Delhi. He does not shy away from expressing himself and is the life of every show.

Himanshu Singh: He is our batchmate and my senior from college who has entered into FMS after doing the preparation for UPSC examinations. The daring showed by him is really crazy as I could never have mustered the courage to achieve such altogether different targets. He has been preparing for the exam for 3 years and has reached the interviews two times. I think he is a really unique person.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

I would like to work for UltraTech Cement. Being a civil engineer I find a personal connection with this company and after doing my MBA and with prior technical knowledge of the construction industry, I think I would be a perfect fit for the organisation. I think my managerial skills would be complemented by my technical skills working with this firm would be mutually beneficial. Also, the construction industry would continue to grow in a country like India and thus this industry would provide a plethora of opportunities to excel at the largest cement company in India. The work culture of the company is something which particularly attracts me towards UltraTech Cement.
