The ‘building of dreams’ is the right word for FMS. For some people, this might mean a lack of resources or a lack of experience a B-school has to offer. I thought the same before coming to FMS. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This college has perhaps the most vibrant student community of all B-schools. FMS hosts multitudes of people from many different fields. But I guess, that’s something every B-school boasts of. However, here at FMS this small campus, adds more to our advantage because our student community becomes a very close-knit one. This close-knit community allows people to know each other and in turn helps us achieve things which no other B-school can.   One of the most memorable experience in my B-school revolves around the completion of insane deadlines. So, this one day after leaving college campus and finally feeling content with life, I thought I would ‘chill’ that day. I have been more of slacker in my life. I do good work, but mostly start working around the end of the deadline. However, I have realized that if I continue to follow a similar life-style, I would end up at the bottom of the pit. However, this was the day when I had completed all the work and was finally relaxed. The time we reached our homes, I saw three deadlines ending at 2, 3,4 AM. The night effectively brought out the managerial capabilities in me and I feel I will face many of these memorable nights in the future.   Introducing a few crazy classmates of mine:
  1. Satyam Mangla: A simple regular guy, one you would find at every nook kind of guy. An innocent looking person, who would appear to be the most innocent until you talk to him. One of his crazy experiments revolved around his trip to Haridwar. He was rafting when suddenly he decided to jump out of the raft, just to ‘get a feel’ of the flow. He jumped and as luck would have it, the flow was heavy and he almost drowned. He was strangled in the river for a whole of 20 minutes and was just saved from drowning.
  2. Aditya Bhale- He is the liveliest guy we have around. He sings brilliantly and has hands on experience with tabla. Apart from that, he has done some pretty crazy things such as he sang on front of 100s of people to earn money just to win a competition. He also once, did not sleep for 3 days straight just to test himself. He has given countless people relationship advices for free. He is one crazy person.
  3. Aayushi Mehrotra- She is one gem of a person. Always humble and polite, but one needs to see her wild side to fully understand her. She has performed Bhangra on Jagjeet Singh's song while out in a different state being drunk. She regrets doing that and always avoids the topic, but sometimes when she is ready to share the experience, she tells the experience with such intricacies and details that a listener just stops to listen to her stories.
  4. Mukul Yadav:  He is a travel junkie and a trainee mountaineer. He has been on several expeditions and always narrates his stories with much enthusiasm. His craziest experience revolved around his recent trek at Leh-Ladakh. He literally trekked amidst a chilling temperature of below -% degree Celsius and encountered multiple paths where he had to walk on a plank which was barely a few inches across. He also carried a weight over 40 kgs on his back and also had to bring a friend down when he accidentally injured himself whilst on the track.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why? I would love to become a part of Idea Cellular services. The reason for being interested in Idea Cellular is two-fold. First, I am an ECE engineer and I feel that my technical skills would be complimenting my managerial skills in the company. Along with it, I feel the recent merger of Vodafone and Idea Cellular opens up tremendous growth opportunities and is an exciting tim to be in the firm. Indian telecom sector is moving towards consolidation and I feel that opportunities won’t be declining any time soon. I have also read about the work ulture which is pretty good as well as conducive at the same time.
