There are very few companies today that are all encompassing. The Aditya Birla Group is one of them and one of the ways in which it has affected my life follows.
It is the day before the farewell in undergraduate college. We are expected to wear suits for this event. I realize that the suit I brought with me when I began college, along with all my hopes and dreams 4 years ago is about 2 sizes too small for me. In a hurry I try to find the closest clothing store which will have a suit. Considering I am studying in Manipal with the closest city being 2 hours away I am a little nervous. To my surprise I see that there is a Louis Philippe store in the vicinity. I rush there and pick out a suit. The people there are nice enough to stay up past closing time and finish with the alteration. This suit then contributed to one of the happiest days of my life. When I look back at this event, I realize that I have always associated Louis Philippe with occasions. For a very large part of my life getting ready for a celebration meant paying a visit to the nearest Louis Philippe or Planet Fashion Store. When I look back at the happiest memories of my life weddings, communions, confirmations and other celebrations there has been one big constant, Louis Philippe. I associate happiness with it to such an extent, that even today when I wear their formal clothes for mundane activities like work or school, some part of my brain still associates these clothes with celebration and I am left a little happier for it.
A life without challenges is one that is not remembered. Human history is by all accounts a retelling of the struggles of previous generations and how they overcame them. We are fortunate that the challenges we face today pale in comparison to the past. We are lucky that we have brands like the Aditya Birla Group that have touched our lives in so many ways and transformed our lives for the better. The biggest challenge I have ever faced was at work in the middle of last year. I used to work for an electrical company in the Supply chain department. We were primarily responsible for order fulfilment. We had received a very huge order for a certain type of glass plates for which was a novelty product and had no manufacturing capacity. The required amount was 50 times our current capacity. We would take at least 3 months to scale our production during which we would lose the order. After a lot of brainstorming I arrived at a solution. My solution to this problem was to split the glass plate into two parts. We could supply the base instantly which could be installed at the site and the work could go on. We were thus able to fulfill the order. I also fulfilled my ambition of becoming an Employee of the month. The clothes I was wearing that day? Louis Philippe.
