Life is never a cake walk for anybody. It comes with ups and downs. The positives boost up the confidence in us and encourage us to do better, whereas the challenges make us more headstrong and determined. Every year our college had a magazine event organized by the pre-final year students. It involved organizing various sports events, cultural activities, magazine designing, technical exhibitions, and a lot more. I always believed, “Do not wait for great opportunities, seize common occasions and make them great.” I took this as a chance to showcase my leadership quality and headed the team of organizers. The most important work for me was to ensure the promotion of the event among students and encouraging them for maximum participation and most importantly managing the budget, which involved the collection of money from students. Many challenges came in the way like the difference of opinions among two sections of my department, Fund issues and conflicts with the HOD as well. But as it is rightly said, “Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors,” I took those challenges as an opportunity to grow and hone my skills and didn't give up. I spoke to the HOD and explained to him about the fund issues we were facing and requested him to provide support from the college fund. At the same time, I divided the work between two sections representatives based on their interests, designing to one and events to the other to prevent further conflict. In the end, we were successful in turning all the odds in our favor, and the function became a huge success, and one of the most talked about events of our college. I learned a lot from experience first and foremost, to choose the opportunities even if you might fail than to live in the shadow of your potential. It taught me how to plan and strategize work by taking everybody together and realizing the interest of other people and involving them in relevant tasks and work as a team. Overall, by taking up this role, I learned that it is essential to have a vision above where, why and how to go to achieve any aim and to pick up the right people in the process to sail through. As of now, I did nothing revolutionary, but the above difficulty made me evolve as a better person.
