The Right Decision - IIM Kashipur

It was a pleasant evening with a bit of swift cold breeze. I was waiting for my train at Pilkhuwa Railway Station to reach home. There were a very few people around as Pilkhuwa is a very small town, with station of 2 Platforms. I’m pretty sure, to all those passersby there was a certain charm in the silence, but it wasn’t the same for me. I had just written my CAT exam and my adrenaline level was beyond my control. I was anxious, relieved, happy and puzzled, all at the same time. I knew for sure, I did reasonably well but relatively how I did, I was still unsure of.

Then came the final verdict, the scorecard reflected 98.28 Percentile. I thought after the result, decision making would get easy for me, but it got complicated even more. I started reaching to my seniors, my teachers asking them for their advice. One thing that everyone agreed on was: If it is going to be the last degree, make sure you have a brand name associated with it. Then and then only, I decided I would go with IIMs. Then came the round of Interview, WAT (Writing Ability Test), and we started receiving mails of preparatory study material from various B-Schools. One of the email, I received was from Team Insite of IIM Kashipur. There begin, my first interaction with this red brick college. As soon as all my GDs & PI got over, I again anxiously waited for the final verdict. I took part in various city meets; IIM Kashipur Delhi Chapter was a very knowledgeable session for me. The reasons why I preferred IIM Kashipur over other sister IIMs are: Honest Suggestions: Team Insite at IIM Kashipur, never asked any candidate to join their college, instead they asked us to do proper research and select the best of the best. They were there to help us. Qualified Faculty: The professors at IIM Kashipur are well qualified and sufficient in number. They come from various backgrounds with a lot of industrial experience. IIM Kashipur is doing decently well in Domains like: Operations, Marketing, Finance & HR. This also helped me to not to decide any specialization beforehand. Permanent Campus: IIM Kashipur’s 200+ acre campus with state of art technology and well-equipped classroom, helped me a lot in finalizing my decision. The placement report of IIM Kashipur is genuine and they stand by their numbers. In the end, I can very proudly say that I’m a member of the legacy of IIM Kashipur & a part of PGP Batch 2018-20 as well.

Which ABG company would one want to work for?

I want to work in Aditya Birla Fashion and retail limited. ABFRL will give me ample opportunity to master the concepts of Marketing & Inventory control. With more than 10,000 retail points, ABFRL has become India's No 1. Fashion Lifestyle entity with combined revenue of INR 7,181 crore for FY 2018. If I get an opportunity, I will try to improve the efficiency of Supply Chain of ABFRL and will try to bring down the cost of goods sold.   - Vishvendra Singh Tomar
