One for all and all for one” a utopian, but achievable goal, towards which the society has just laid its feet. Now, all that is required is just to prove our mettle to make our society a more inclusive one, by connecting the people who have been neglected somehow. The 'MeToo' movement and the decriminalisation of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, are two prime instances of the 21st century difference. Change is hard to accept, just like we saw in these two movements. Persistence was, and is the key, along with the ability to never give up. Sacrifices are needed to be made, voices are needed to be heard, and people need to stand up. This era is both a blessing and a curse, disguised as one. Any change in our society cannot be labelled miniscule, rather any encouraging act bestowed upon, is a welcomed change and a stepping stone to a significant following. So what really is inclusiveness? It translates to a process that includes each and every section of the society and tries to create equal and equitable opportunities for them. And, that’s the reason why it's somehow utopian, in the context of the present conditions of the society. Though we are beginning somewhere to achieve this goal, but there is certainly a dire need for an inclusive society to provide equitable opportunities to all the sections. On similar lines, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, as a kickstart to its first ever annual Cultural – Management Fest, Xamboree, has planned the first CSR event for the fest, Pratibha. Pratibha, organized by the Social Responsibility Cell of XUB, is an inclusive annual function which caters to the differently abled kids of our society. The event intends to empower and motivate these special kids to showcase their innate talents and spread their wings into the bigger outside world. It is a noble initiative to make it a special day for the ones deprived of the simple joys of life. It will be a host to some engaging competitions for the kids from nearby NGOs, like Drawing, Racing, Football, Lemon Race, Throwball, Skipping, etc. These events will make the kids feel a sense of belongingness to the community and the important part they play for its future. Pratibha caters to including the children who have been somehow ignored by the mainstream by giving wings to their imagination and making them feel ‘included’ in the mainstream, because whatever the situation might be, they are and have to be, a considerate part of the mainstream society. Planning of a fest like this, not only bestows upon a huge responsibility but also makes opportunities for the young mindsets to familiarize themselves with the need for an inclusive society in the current scenario. Xamboree has given the students of XUB, a platform to be a part of a fest, like never before. Micro-management, multi-tasking, compartmentalising and above all, managing, are the key prospects offered by a fest of such stature. It helps to add value to whatever the students learn inside the classrooms and get a chance to apply those skills and have a holistic understanding of the MBA life. By engaging in events like Pratibha and above all, Xamboree, as a whole, the students get a wide view of the society and its functioning and the need to be a little more inclusive. After all, its us who form the ‘society’ and catering to a neglected section of the society, will in turn help us to grow stronger and better, parallelly. So what really is the need of the hour? To make all efforts to tackle the disabilities and fix them into our abilities, to make a change and achieve the ‘so-called’ utopian goal of an inclusive society, and above all, to make the most of your MBA X-perience.
